With the 5T prefix and the X suffix denoting the extra key on the top line -- just a delightful keyboard action on this machine.

I have this typewriter in the Sears/Tower labeling. Great machine. These fifties S-C portables are fantastic.

I can answer the first two questions -- here I post short videos in conjunction with my offerings of refurbished vintage typewriters on eBay. Each video was prepared for inclusion with an auction listing, because to the extent possible, I like to show bidders that a machine is working well rather than merely tell them. (To that end, I also always include a specimen typed page with each listing.) The typewriters I hunt for, because I love these machines and enjoy tinkering with them, are examples "as-found, as-is" from yard sales and thrift shops and basements. The ones I can't fix become resources for parts; a few go into my embarrassingly large collection; most end up with new owners through eBay. As for your third question, "why am I into it," I can only say that you're not alone -- these machines hold a fascination for many, many people.

@@NisKildegaard wow, never expected such a great answer, thanks for answering! Cant say I'm very interested in buying a typewriter myself, but I am definitely subscribing, as that part is free last time I checked;)
