Thanks, I think the 5AX Sterling might be the one all around top recommendation I make for any typewriter. Collectors can find more exotic and harder to find machines like the Hermes 3000 or Torpedo, but for an all around fantastic typewriter with a blend of old and new styling its got to be the Sterling for the win!

@@LazyDogTypewriters I agree! I'm glad to read someone else thinks that way. I'm lucky to own a blue one in basically unused condition, and I love it. Another favorite of mine is the Galaxie II. It's a bit later, but also wonderful to type on.

@@davidtheriault6726 Wonderful. When I was young and foolish, ok last year, I was going to paint the "plain old" blue one I had. Now I would be horrified :) I do like the paint the grey and have transformed an avocado (spring green) into a really sharp all red one for Valentines. Superb machines

I have actually two 3 diamond "Classic" models both from 1964. The only real distinction between the Classic and Sterling models, gleaned from your videos, is that the bells on the Classic are noticeably smaller and quieter. One of my Classics has a carriage centering lever while the other does not. The metal brackets in the case will keep the machine centered and simultaneously release the carriage return levers...pretty nifty. As a side note one of my cases has cracks in the handle support so I don't trust it to carry it that way.

Great video! Thanks for making these,I always enjoy these. I have one 5AX it took me years to mine. Its Dawn grey.They seem to be very hard to find here in NE Ohio. I love it,I keep it on my not for sale shelf. Love your paint combo.
