Just took this Enhanced Action 637 to the range yesterday and Hornady 110 gr .38 Special +P, Hornady 125 gr .38 Special XTP, Federal Premium 110 gr Hydration Shok, and Federal American Eagle 130 gr FMJ with all of them shooting very accurately including single strong side (right hand for me) and even decent with my weak side (left hand for me). Very comfortable carrying this as EDC with at least a couple reloads. Thanks again.

I used to carry a Glock 19, then a Glock 27 converted to a Glock 26 and now I have and enjoy carrying this 637-2 in 38+P. With two speed strips you have 17 rounds of hard hitting ammo that is light, easy to carry, quite concealable and very very dependable. It is a point to shoot "get off me" defensive handgun which is capable of a 12 inch group at 50 yds in single action mode. You have the best of every world with this handgun.

Except capacity and reloading time. Could just carry the 19 and have over triple the capacity without reloading.

I’m considering this 637 to slim down from my G26. How did going from your 27/26 to this feel? I find the 26 a little too thick, especially in the hot summer.

@@mlevy76 38 plus p ammo is more than enough. Airweight 637 is easily carried in a pocket along with 2 speed strips. 15 rounds is plenty for just about anything concealed carry. Use something different for home defense however

The Performance Center option for me was a extra $90. The trigger enhancement alone is worth it. Then you get the grip upgrade and mine came in a nice plastic case not a cardboard box. I also believe the Performance Center is picking the better finished components and are more skilled gunsmiths. Well worth another 20%.

It is a good lightweight snubbie to get a feel for the platform, but I prefer the shrouded/internal hammer of the 638 or the 642.

A wolf spring upgrade will get you a good trigger if you wanna save the money. But to be honest, the LCR is a better platform with a better trigger than the PC S&W models.

I bought one of these at auction. I carry it in my front pocket, rather than my Glock’s on my belt. Got a decent price. Wasn’t listed as a Performance Center model, so I think bidders thought it was going above value.

My every day carry J frame is a 6-38. It has a shrouded hammer that can be hand cocked for more precise accuracy if need be. I easliy qualify with it every 2 years for my California CCW.

I get the notion of paying a little more for the trigger job and the wood grips, but after a lot of rounds, my Smith’s have all really smoothed out and I personally find them to be quite nice. I’m also very used to them so I’ll stick with what I have, but certainly can appreciate a beautiful piece of machinery. Thanks

I have one of these and love the extended grip and carry it in my EDC rotation strong side, cross draw, and shoulder holster. Sometimes I carry this strong side in a FLECT holster with ammo pouch carrying ZETA6 SYM STRIP, usually a Bianchi with a pocket RASC attached as 2nd reload and maybe one more 5 round speed strips. At times I carry a second 5 round .357 LCR revolver in a GALCO shoulder holster as a backup or just to give that instant reload with 2 HKS Speedloaders as well. The 637 PC is a very handy and useful lightweight gun. Yes, I usually carry .38 +P self defense ammo in one or both revolvers if I am carrying 2. Thanks for doing this video, sir!

Swapped the grip to a wood boot grip and bobbed the hammer. Prefer the bobbed hammer over shrouded because when I put it in a holster or pocket I put my thumb over the hammer so if it gets snagged I will feel it push up my thumb. Carry this in the summer and my 686+ in the cooler months

I picked up a 637-2 Performance Center today. I absolutely love the 640 I have but it is heavy being all stainless and .357. Not anything I can't handle, it just gets irritating having the belt weighted down sometimes. I mostly load up 38 special anyway so why not try a true 38 sp gun and get the weight savings. I am taking it out to the range shortly for the first rounds.

I really enjoy you videos, practical down to earth analysis. IMHO the best value in snubby revolvers right now is the Ruger LCR line in 38 spl. Right balance between weight, stoping power, price, quality and the capability of changing front sights unlike S&W. Personally I'm partial to the 3 inch LCRX because I don't do pocket carry.

Adding a performance spring kit to the J frame changes it’s dynamics. I’m personally not an advocate of S&W J’s with exposed hammers and would opt towards a centennial model.
@georgewashington3012
@georgewashington3012 Жыл бұрын
Beautiful. I don’t understand why S&W seemingly goes out of their way to make their trigger look burned/dirty. They should put a tiny bit of effort and polish it so it’s a clean shiny silver. Even in the performance center edition they don’t polish it? Weird.

 It is called Case Hardening. It’s purpose is to harden the surface of the steel on parts that have heavy friction/wear points. It is a sign of quality (extra step in manufacturing) and nostalgia rather than “dirty” or “burnt”.

The 637 and other air weights and aluminum frame models have that horrible dragline from the ejector rod and the finish just comes off, but it is as reliable as a revolver can be
@Iceaxehikes
@Iceaxehikes Жыл бұрын
This is true. My 317-3 developed the drag line on the recoil shield quickly. Over time it hasn't gotten worse though. You can see it and feel it with a fingernail. It sort of wears in and doesn't get any deeper.

Is it not the case that buying a performance model is about paying extra for some spit and polish that really should be the standard for base model actions. The marketing team clearly did a good job compromising peoples expectations yet seems they got away with it..
