I have same gun, its a great gun very well designed, very accurate, the red dot mounting no problems, and if are familiar with the S&W Preformance Center guns you would have known that they come in a cardboard box, that leaves it up to the gun owner to be able to pick the type case that best fits their needs.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I have the same gun and it’s been amazing. AMAZING!! I absolutely love it. Great consistency when shooting and a great feeling and good looking gun. I’ll grant your correct on the cardboard box but let’s be honest once you buy it… you don’t use that box or kit any longer so it becomes irrelevant. But a plastic case would be nicer to sit and collect dust so i guess i understand. If we are just talking about the gun though, once again it’s too shelf. Very ergonomic built and ready to accept any optic and most importantly it’s consistent! S&W did the elusive miracle and brought sexy back!

Please read the comment note. My specific sample did not have any mention as to which plate to use with which red dot much less the screws. I filmed this video a year ago. I really do like your review. I haven’t gotten mine yet. I will say this for 700ish swapping out a trigger and getting a metal Optic plate I don’t mind. As by comparison my X-5 Legion needed an optics plate and after around a yr swapped the trigger as well which I would’ve done sooner if one were available. Which I got my Legion cheaper than some and it was still more than the most expensive 2.0. Thank You so much for your time and input. I will definitely consider all you have mentioned

@Andre Joyce there must’ve been a fluke with the owners manual that came with my gun or it was something added later, but mine did not come with any instructions on how to mount a red dot. Totally agree with the card board box. Mine came with the CT optic in the box. To me it was easy matching them with proper screws and plate. While I do like the apex flat trigger better. By the way, there is a full section in the S&W M&P "Safety&Instruction Manual" that came with the M2.0 Performance Center C.O.R.E. pistol. Nobody RTFMs, much, but I'm not an expert, so I read all the gun manuals I get. Anyway, pp. 44-47 of this pistol's manual has detailed instructions on how to mount any of the 7 makes of red dots, and a chart showing which of the mounting plates, #1-7 to use for the brand of red dot, plus which screws they give will fit through your red dot through the plate into the top of the gun. Very detailed, no guessing, all parts and screws included for most major brands. S&W tried, so we should take advantage of this nice benefit. Cheers!

Owners manual pages 44-47 gets into optic plate and screw selection for red dot mounting, but it's not very clear. Hard to find plus hard to interpret equals bad documentation for the user.

I’ve got nothing to add today since I’ve never shot an M&P, though with my arthritis I’m expecting to need an EZ at some point. I have five Sig Legions, and Springfield TRPs all with great triggers, though my newest P226 Legion SAO could use a short reset trigger kit, though it appears the SRT kit is only available for DA/SA pistols. My S&W 629 .44 came with a hard case, so maybe you need to spend $1K before you are blessed with a hard case. ? Don’t know. Good video overall. The cardboard box doesn't bother me as I'll be using a hard plastic "pelican-type" case for my handguns. I think the gun is an excellent value for the money. As far as the provided sights go, compare to the Sig P320 for $1100 that doesn't come with night sights either. Buy the crimson trace version of this gun for around $900 and you have a nice overall range gun. BTW - the crimson trace red dot sight also has the gap you pointed out with your Holosun. Thanks.

I have a 2.0 Pro Series non- CORE non- ported 5 “- these models come with competition fiber optic irons installed (the assumption is that if you buy a CORE, you’re installing a RD thus the white dot co-witness ) IMO the factory tuned PC trigger job is very fast if you like M&P triggers and better than a standard M&P 2.0 - Re-set feel and the apparent demand for “ tactile audible reset” is fun for slow fire target shooting but mostly irrelevant at competition speed IMO - full speed split times with this pistol are very good - in fact better than some of my strikers with supposedly “better” triggers - I don’t feel the need for an Apex upgrade I had mine direct cut for a RMR which allows for my HS 507C to sit 1/2 further back then the CORE plate set up requires , so no lens fouling My set up requires that you remove the rear sight , so no complete co-witness But , for competition , I just use the front sight post anyway as an index when shooting weak hand at more acute angles , as that’s the only scenario in which I can lose the dot My only real complaint about this pistol is the stiffness of the slide release , as if I’m doing an emergency reload at full speed , I prefer to drop the slide with my strong hand thumb The original M&P would slide drop on a mag slam , as does the CZP10F or my new PDP FS I wish that S&W had retained that feature as it’s IMO an asset in an IDPA match , not as big an issue in USPSA The Pro series is completely reliable , comparably accurate to any other quality striker etc I didn’t mind the cardboard box , unless you’re going to send me case comparable in quality to Pelican or a snuck I’d rather have the useful cleaning kit lol !

I knew the optic came off when you mentioned you had a problem with the mounts sorry that happened. My first M&P compact came in a hard container I think it depends on who and what day it is boxed. I have the core optic ready ordered should receive it Sunday or Monday it has front serrations no porting but has Suppressor hight sights which is Unique most other gun companies optic ready pistols come with regular sights and have to buy sight to co witness . And even though plastic comes with all plates , others come with maybe one free plate. Shooting my regular m&p when actually firing it I don't notice the passive reset I do like the take up for defensive trigger. For 599.00 the core is I think a bargain . In what way is the porting a gimmick? That’s a pretty silly thing to say. Porting on their 3.1” m&p shield I find to be a little gimmicky considering you need a longer barrel for it to really have an effect but on a long slide competition sized gun the ports make a significant and noticeable difference.

That solved the trigger problem, but it wasn’t the most accurate pistol at 25 yards. Shooting from a rest produced some really inconsistent groups. I have been saying for years that S&W Performance Center is not worth the price. (at least the polymer PC, most of the PC revolvers are really nice). Still a point of contention that the Performance Centers come in cardboard box. Where's the pride of ownership? The, "I went an paid $750-$1000 on a Smith and Wesson Performance Center" if you will. I would describe S&W entire polymer PC line as unremarkable. The lack of information concerning mounting the optics plate and screws is irresponsible.

I completely agree with your comment. I haven’t seen it, but I’ve been told that now they do include instructions in the owners manual on mounting the optic. But even then, you still get everything mixed together in one plastic bag so you still have to figure out which screws are which and which plate goes with your optic. Makes you appreciate how the Glock MOS and FN plates and screws are present it to you. Thank you very much for watching.

Yeah disappointing to see a 700+ gun being subpar considering its smith and wesson. I do love their revolvers that I own such as model 686+, model 29, and performance center magnum hunter.

Gun is awesome I like the old school box and it's one of the lowest priced race ready guns that's also one of the best in my opinion. GUN is GOOD just buy it! if you have tools and work on guns often I'm sure you'll have no problem mounting an optic. He keeps stating for a gun over 700 they should do this or should of done that yet it's one of the best priced ones? Dude If you want that go spend double the money somewhere else. Gun is very accurate and it's an M&P maby it's just not for you! We all have different opinions on this gun I however think its a great deal for the money. Not trying to attack him or his review but I just disagree and that's ok.

S&W's PC auto offerings haven't really been the same since discontinuing the 952 & 945. As of late, they resemble Lipsey style offerings and a branding gimmick.

Why? So you can shoot a 9mm that feels like a .40? Walther cant figure out how to spring their guns properly. From the p99 to the ppq and now the pdp. Absolutely ridiculous how snappy their guns are. I keep buying them hoping the next gun will be better. But nope.
