I noticed that, too. KCD1 is my favorite game of all time, and I haven't watched anything but the trailers, and this, because I want to be surprised. I'm glad I watched this, though, because this looks AWESOME! I spent hours crafting potions in the first one, it was really fun and kind of relaxing to do (unless you had Mutt with you, and he'd howl all night long, haha, I finally sent him home every time i started an alchemy session after that). I'm going to spend so much time making weapons to sell. THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE PERFECT (for me).

A tip I used in KCD 1 was to use a torch while sharpening. This is because the torch light would highlights the edge so you can see the sharpening progress. With this new system, which I really like, I don't know useful light will be, but it might be worth trying.
@RichardSiegers26 күн бұрын
another tip for KCD 1 is use the cheapest weapon you got (butcher knife or carpentry axe) and make it blunt on the grindstone and then repair it with the repair kit then make it blunt again and repair it again because the weapons are very cheap it takes almost nothing from your repair kit so you will be level 20 in 10 minutes

This is pretty cool. its clear the people who made this actually have some knowledge of blacksmithing. One of the obvious signs that you have started to burn your steel is when it starts throwing sparks like that. Unless you are forge welding, then its a sign that your piece of hot enough that it has a sticky surface and will tack together. But fully capturing the process of shaping a sword would be near impossible without becoming tedious and complicated. This is far more than any other game has ever tried before.
@liamwalsh392526 күн бұрын
I was super impressed when I saw the sparks, devs have definitely put the extra effort in, but it's happened one too many times in my forge hahaha

@@liamwalsh3925 yeah burning your piece is a pain in the neck and one of the reasons why I switched from coal to gas despite really liking the smell of the coal forge. You can actually make a whole sword in one go, what I would recommend would go from the fire: So while in the fire go to the top part of the sword, use the bellow 3 times, go to the middle and again for 3 times, and the bottom 3 times, now while still at the bottom go another 2, then back to the middle for 2 times, and the top 2 times. :now you go to hammerin’ what you wanna do is raise the hammer till It’s out of the screen POV, (make sure it’s lined up with the blade so you don’t miss) and then release and let it strike, then you wanna just barely flick the thumb stick upwards to move up the sword, then you just move up and then repeat 2-3 (passes on that side of the sword up and down) times on one side and then flip, again 2-3 times on that side, and so long as you did it well (and hit it fast enough while the sword was hot) you can then finish the sword.

So according to others who have already played, I have seen and have explained to me smithing swords and horseshoes. Apparently the sword smithing is fine, you can really only move the sword back and forth and I’m pretty sure you don’t get to move the hammer to PURPOSFULLY or accidentally miss. (Maybe you can still miss a hit, I’m sure you can make good or bad swords) HOWEVER! Currently, the horse shoes and hammer on horse shoes don’t have any movement limit and it’s INCREDIBLY difficult to smith the horse shoes right now lol. I’m sure they will fix it. I would really like to know how other types of weapons work and if they are as easy/doable as the swords and not abysmally difficult like the horse shoes.
@ESOdanny25 күн бұрын
Skill Issue haha. Your right, sword can only be moved back and forth and flipped. You cannot miss you just need to hammer it evenly. The horseshoe, axe etc has an area you can hit, buts its possible to miss what your hitting like IRL. Its actually very realistic so it does not need to be fixed. But its funny that for this reason smithing a sword is more brain afk than smithing a horseshoe.
