Time stamps could probably be a bit more accurate. Let alone in sequential order, however I'm stubborn. Unnecessary Pokémon could be taken out. This task has taken 3 days and 5 hours to do and I'm happy with it. Shouldn't be any spelling errors but by all means let me know if there's anything that needs updated otherwise. I've been playing Emerald Legacy after getting home from work and I'm having a blast using a team I've never been able to put together before in all my normal Emerald runs. Thank you so much for allowing me to relive what got me through my childhood and really cemented me in the Pokémon universe outside of a neat childhood memory of season 1 VHS tapes.

I don't understand why dragon didn't get the dark treatment and become physical. Salamence, Flygon and Altaria (and Dragonite too) all lean towards physical attacks. Outrage and dragon claw are both contact moves (dragon pulse doesn't exist in this gen) and dragon dance boosts attack, not special.

I think Dragon being Special was part of what kept it a more balanced type in Gens 1-3. Once physical-oriented Dragon attackers got access to physical Dragon STAB (and Draco Meteor) in Gen 4, the type rapdily ascended in power until finally Fairy Types had to be invented to nerf them.

​@@vel0xraperioI don't think this argument holds much weight, unless you are only are referring to Salamence - which is a pseudo with a lv50 evolution, it's supposed to be good and doesn't care about dragon being special anyway because it has base 110 spA. It's Flygon and Altaria that suffer, with base 80 and 70 spA and no way to boost spA.

@nicholaslorimer4049 Both Flygon and Altaria have other roles they can fill besides that of Special Attacking menace. Flygon is a balanced (primarily) physical attacker with a Ground immunity and whose Dragon typing removes weaknesses to Water and Grass. Altaria is a supportive/defensive Flier who sheds its weakness to Electric and gains lots of extra resists thanks to Dragon. Not every Pokemon has to be built for attacking. Dragon used to be more of a defensive type before power creep and its status as a largely unresisted STAB made it the premier attacking type (without sacrificing its defensive prowess).

I just finished a playthrough in hard mode with Belossom (low A), Lanturn, Grumpig, Wigglytuff, Grumpig (B), Sandshlash and Murkrow (C) and I can say that it's a totally different experience from the runs with the usual team from S tier.

If we were desperate for ways to improve Spinda's usefulness that doesn't touch its stats, I see two possibilities. It might be neat if Own Tempo additionally gave the user +1 priority when using moves with a chance to confuse. That would give Spinda priority Psybeam, Teeter Dance, Water Pulse, and Swagger. The only other Pokemon this would effect on this list is Grumpig, who was put in the bottom half of B-tier. Or Teeter Dance could be given +1 priority, which would only effect Cacturne in the top half of B-tier because it gets Teeter Dance as an egg move. It wouldn't make it top-tier, but if we could give Spinda an interaction vaguely reminiscent of the Prankster + Swagger combo that got Klefki ire on Pokemon Showdown, that sounds like a niche to me. And if there's worry about it making Cacturne too strong, the option always exists to either remove Teeter Dance from its egg move list, or Teeter Dance could be changed to make ALL Pokemon on the field confused, which wouldn't effect Spinda since it will always have Own Tempo. I just don't want my boy to be sat at the lunch table alone at the bottom of the list.

Modifying own tempo feels like a step in the right direction, though as you said it would also affect Grumpig and I believe Slowbro as well once you get to the post game. Now you could always just remove own tempo from every pokemon other than Spinda to really lean into the whole gimmick, sort of like how Kecleon is the only Colour Change mon in gen3. If that's the case then I feel we could do some stupid stuff like making Own Tempo do what it already does, and then give it a random sharp stat boost on top of that when someone attempts to confuse you. Turn it into a gamble. Heck that would actually give Spinda a niche use for the healing berries that confuse you. Really lean into Spinda being weak and easy to take out, but with the risk of getting out of control if you leave him alone for too long.

Just finished e4 with rain team (sceptile, KINGDRA, ludicolo, masquraine, whiscash and banette with thunder) Wanna say that kingdra is awesome, glad you can have it before gym 3/4, also masq is just really cool, and i never used banette before, propably i should use gardevoir instead, but doll also really useful Thank you and your team very much for you project, really love it and gonna replay at least 2 times with different starters and teams (CL was my favorite tho)

Torkoal is an absolute wall/meme/troll with the early moveset. Protect, yawn, curse, and body slam is a slow Strat, but awesome for basically anything except ghost. It gets access to SP atk boosting move later on, so you can do the same thing but trade bodyslam for flamethrower and basically destroy everything.

1:36:00 zangoose swords dance slash feels so part of this Pokemons identity, it feels generic to have swords dance so late. Zangoose is my favorite pokemon. What i would do is remove bulk up and put swords dance back to 11. Id give it substitute in the early 30s as a tool to give it some way of setting up in the late game which was its biggest problem being frailty. But i dont want its frailty solved the way bulkup solves it. You should be forced to solve the frailty issue with the rest of your mons by using sleep strats or screen setup 2:35:58 Missed opportunity to finally give Golduck psychic type and Agility (maybe give it like 10 more hp). Obviously would be outclassed by Starmie. But you can set up Agility and still have disable to remove key threats.

I would like to make a case for pelipper. It beats anorith and makuhita/breloom, then of course loses to wattson. With water pulse instead of water gun, it is now even better for flannery, and with flamethrower replacing dragon breath on altaria, it is better for Winona (with ice beam). Combine everything here with buffed hp and special attack, I think pelipper deserves to at least be high b tier.

"People are sleeping on Luvdisk." I see what you did there. That's the thing about weak but fast pokemon. They're designed to be sent out and basically guarantee a status.. Electrode Thunderwave was valuable for that. Luvdisk has sleep, confusion and attract. This isnt competitive though, or just 1 on 1 battles. This is in-game, where you go through many fights without healing. If you're not a sweeper, speed won't help much after the first battle.

Great work has been done here! I've been following the channel since Crystal Legacy, and I'm very hyped to rediscover Emerald with this Legacy version! Just one thing sounds strange for m, in this video: I don't understand why we couldn't do more for Corsola. Why is it tiered with Kekleon? It's not a gimmick Pokemon, so we just have to increase its HP/defense stats and give it good moves, like hydropump, rock slide and heal. Can't we do that? I've the impression that Corsola has just been forgotten during the process. Is it like Nosepass, i.e. because it was a single stage Pokemon appearing in an opponent team somewhere, and it shouldn't be too strong?

I always find the best way to use Ninjask is Protect turn 1, then Swords Dance, then Baton Pass. That way pass +2 attack AND speed 😎

I ran a Tentacruel once, and I didn't like it because I couldn't hard switch Tentacool into Ground type Pokemon. I also think the Tentacruel line should get Water Gun at level 8-10, no Water STAB until level 19 is pretty harsh, or cruel, lol. 😆😆 Also, Skarmory getting Spikes at level 38 seems late because you can only set one layer in Gen III.

I actually appreciate that we have the same assessment of the Wurmple line. I pretty much always want to use Dustox over Beautifly in Gen 3 Hoenn. Until recently I felt similarly about Butterfree vs Beedrill but Beedrill was pretty solid in my playthrough of Yellow Legacy and FireRed so I kind of now have more respect for that Bee lol. Gen 2 is tricky for bugs because there aren't really any good uses for Ariados or Ledian that couldn't be done by a better bug or non-bug Pokemon. I think I usually run Scizor anyway so it ends up being like the only other two I would think about using are Heracross and maybe Foretress.

I caught Beldum on my first encounter with just a little planning. I had a Kirlia with Double Team that I maxed out evasion with, and after evasion was maxed, I started chucking great balls every turn. Eventually Kirlia fainted, and I sent our Aron. With arons high defense, Beldum's recoil was only 1hp per turn. Thankfully I was able to catch it before it fainted. This strategy isn't a guarantee, but for how hard Beldum is to catch, this made it A LOT easier. All in all, took about 30-ish Great Balls to catch

@smithplayspokemon seems weird to give Extremespeed to Plusle & a bunch of mons that never canonically got it instead of the canon 4th Pokémon to actually get the move after Dragonite Arcanine & Rayquaza, & nowadays gets it by breeding. It kinda tells me nobody in the Dev squad has played Gen 3 competitive if SD at low level is considered a major part of Zangoose's character but Extremespeed which Linoone was the undisputed poster child of is left off its moveset completely, not even available via Tutoring or Breeding. I mean, the history is recorded, the sets are on Smogon, you can see it there. I'm not saying it should be easy or low level, it can be level 70 & still make sense, I'm saying it should be somewhere in the mix or Linoone is missing the most important piece of its Gen 3 kits for Battle Frontier challenging

For hardcore mode, are you going to allow us to edge our Pokémon to 1 XP before going above the level cap? I noticed that this was not the case in Crystal Legacy. I feel like for most nuzlockers we do that cause the level cap is only for the start of the battle so allowing us to edge them up and then get that level bump mid battle would be nice in hardcore mode instead of having to do normal mode and worry about XP management. It would just be convenience thing for us.

I don't think it could work exactly like this because then people could grind over the cap by repeatedly getting experience from the Gym Leader's first few Pokemon then wiping. I do think the way the level cap was implemented in Crystal Legacy was sub-par in the sense that if you actually reach the cap, any extra experience is wasted, incentivizing you to fight at an even lower level and sometimes excessively plan around the capping system, making it an excessive annoyance. Ideally, there should be no cap on experience gained, but the excess XP wouldn't actually convert into levels until the cap condition is met. However, I realize that this would mostly likely be a pretty ambitious change for a ROM hack.

Poor Spinda. I don't even particularly like it yet I think it deserves better. Is its BST being a certain number _really_ all that important? It's information you can't even normally see in-game. Spinda isn't really even a total joke/gimmick mon like Delibird. It has a pretty decent level up and TM learnset. It's mainly its horrible stats holding it back. Personally, I think I'd have raised all its stats to 75 and given it Hustle as an ability option. Being strong but inaccurate seemed like it would be in character for a bumbling bear. It still wouldn't be super great but it gets some good moves, levels up quickly and Hustle would let it do respectable damage.

shroomish and stun sopore for beldum, but can confirm it is absolutely heinous to try catch given it can KO itself with take down. Ended up using nest balls from verdanturf

I’m still wondering: does this patch add the special/physical distinction or just changes the dark type to physical and ghost type to special? If so, is there another type change?

So there's no physical special split as they wanted to remain in line with the original direction of the game. They've swapped ghost and darks damage in all of their other legacy releases because if feels more on brand (physical gengar doesn't feel good). As far as I'm aware there are no other type damage changes. Tldr: no physical special split. Ghost is special. Dark is physical

It got a slight buff in HP, Defense and Special Attack and thanks to Vulpix's early accessiblity, learning Will-o-Wisp at level 17 and Shadow Ball at level 36, Vulpix / Ninetales is actually pretty good for a Fire Type in Hoenn

It's souped up Emerald, but it is still mostly Emerald. If you don't find the base game that entertaining (for whatever reason, e.g. it doesn't click with you) I've definitely had multiple Gen 3 and ORAS playthrough attempts just die of boredom around Wattson too, for whatever reason, whether its lack of challenge, lack of mon variety, etc. Like I'll literally beat the Route 110 rival fight, but be bored enough to not enough reach Mauville.

Base Leaf blade is 70 base power, they buffed it to 80, I believe.
