Today's video is a bit long as I take you to the Smithsonian's Postal Museum, one of the more valuable collections in the Smithsonian's Archives. See some famous stamps and other items, before we check out the US Capitol and White House. We also see Biden's motorcade spin by.

Thanks Andrew for another interesting video. A historical note on the Railway Post Office, or RPO rail cars. Postal clerks working in RPO cars were all armed with .38 caliber revolvers to protect the mail.

Omg. That sandwich looked so good. I was drooling with envy. Glad you took the pilgrimage so we could see the memorials , hotel & post office. If I were to go through the Smithsonian's, I want to see everything. I would have to set up a tent to sleep in between my going from one end to another. How did you get the shot of Jupiter and its moons?

A very long lens on a tripod. To be specific, a 100-400mm lens with a 2x teleconvertor. The camera then did a 2x digital zoom. The video you saw was sped up 4x, so it was really about a minute long. If you have a relatively decent pair of binoculars you should be able to see it too (if no clouds). It's basically opposite of the Sun, so when the Sun goes down Jupiter is rising.

There is a 25 cent penguin stamp. A friend who worked at the post office got a stuffed penguin with the stamp on the front. She gave it to me because I collect penguin stuff at the time. If I go to the Smithsonian post office etc, I am going to look for that stamp. I have collected a few first day issue stamps too.

Depends...the leadership of both parties are driven by the Capitol Police... others may or may not be. A lot of death threats does get them higher on the list. Some have their Own drivers as a member of their office Staffs. Senator Feinstein of California had for 19 years her own private driver and outreach person to the Asian Community.......Turned out that He was a Paid, Placed Agent of the Chinese Communist Party....OOps

It depends on the person and the nature of their position. For example a very wealthy Senator might just have a chauffer. Others might just prefer to drive themselves or use and Uber. Members who are in leadership will typically have security details provided for them by the Capitol Police. A noted example of a Senator driving their own vehicle happened when during the massive storm caused traffic jam on I-95 in Virginia in January 2022. Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia had his normal two hour drive turned into a 19 hour adventure that involved spending a cold night in his car.
