Smittybilt Awning Install w/ GZila Design Mounts

This coronavirus is giving us time to do a lot of things so decided to make my first video with my camera man (my son) installing the Smittybilt Awning I just picked up using bar mounted brackets from Gzila Designs.

Do you think someone could attach an awning directly to the Crosstrek's roof rails using the GZila awning brackets? I would like to have both a cargo basket and an awning on at the same time, and it would help to have the awning mounted directly to the roof rail. I do not want to drill into the roof rails, by the way

So you were not able to use the clamps that come with it? Did it come with clamps to attach to your rack?

Ok I actually rewatched and saw that it did come with clamps. Did you have to get different clamps because the ones that came with it would not work, or did you just opt for something different?

Hey how far apart of the legs to attach to your roof rack? Just curious if there was any info(that you recall) for how lost it could be ? I'm going to order one but I know on my car, my roof rack rails are maybe 2'-2.5' wide. so I'm wondering if that would be wide enough for this model

Every rack is different, check the manufacturers specs. Typically 1” for Yakima load and mega warrior racks.

2'' exhaust clamps will help you mount it onto something 2'' around. One of the KZbin videos has a guy doing it that way.
