Remember that time you spent a free day in the shop, and by nightfall you just wanted to scream into the sky?

WD is about worthless on steel as I'm sure you already know. It is worthwhile on aluminum since it can help prevent chip welding to the cutting tool edge. And since you were making a point of trying to brush the chips out of the slot you again know that chip recutting is a major cause of cutting edge wear and degradation of the surface finish. With cnc or even with some manual machining set ups copying the pros and using high pressure air / coolant to flush or blow the chips clear as soon as there cut is a huge improvement. For us the lack of a full enclosure or filling the air with a fog of coolant mist is the tough part. Watching your other video you might want to get that open electrical outlet to the right and rear of your mill covered up. I had one pick up a chip in just the right situation that caused a short across both terminals one time. And that outlet was in my opinion so well protected by the bench top I would have thought it could never happen. Any open electrical outlets and machining just don't mix. Even a strip of black electrical tape is enough to do the job.

Hey Bill, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Some things changed in my life about two years ago, and it's really cut down on my ability/desire to be in the shop. Overall though, the changes have been for the better. I hope your health improves.

Modifying a bumper but I made for a 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser. I made the bumper about a decade ago, and my friend who owns it bought a winch so we're modifying the bumper to accommodate it.
