@@TheFlyingKiwiNZ still haven't gotten around to doing the roast chook, but it does amazing steaks, snags and wings. Thanks for the reminder, if weather permits I'll try and do a chook soon!

The protective sandals a good suggestion because bare feet are too exposed.

"Some sort of foot protection..." The guy's wearing flip-flops :D You Southern Hemisphere guys are adorable! Nice vid, good job!

Haha cheers mate, yeah that was a bit of tongue in cheek on my part, but as long as you don't pour coals onto your feet, flip flops at least stop the little cinders from burning ya soles! 😛. Gotta stay practical in hot summer too

Ones suggestion. Put the bbq lighters on the ground, then light and put first starter on top of lit lighters as charcole or briquettes. Or toy can use crumpled up paper in end of chimney and light it will light coals to

I use a gas burner now to start my chimney. Can't remember the last time I used a fire starter!

great video. quick question, how you keep it lit for so long. I recently bought the same grill but my charcoal only last for 10-15 mins and then dies out. How do you keep the bottom damper from not getting clogged up?

TheTunafish7428 I've got the smokey joe premium and had the same issue with using briquettes, I swapped it for lump charcoal and now it works a treat.

TheTunafish7428 I find that I have to keep the vents fully open for enough oxygen to flow through. I don't have a problem with them clogging up. Maybe try a different type of charcoal? Also make sure there is no juice dripping down because that will act like glue for the ash and stop it flowing out. Cheers

I am going to try this out. But with Bar B Que sauce. A real Oak brush wood pieces. No charcoal. See how it comes out.

Washing Chicken in the sink is unnecessary and is the most common way of spreading bacteria around your kitchen. It’s advised against by the British food standards commission.
