This is a great adaptation of solar lights, but there are a few things to be careful of with solar lights. A lot have no charge regulation on them, even the more expensive ones. This means it is very easy to overcharge the batteries, meaning risk of battery failure, which can be quite catastrophic. I'd factor in charge control with this modification to add safety to the system and make sure the batteries don't get overcharged.

Great video with some useful info. Thanks mate. Quick question, where does the washing machine drain hose goes in this unit. I have the same one installed, Robinhood supertub 1600. Thanks again

Just received a new welder. It already has the capacitor in place and alloy bus bars have been added to the long traces. Nicely done.

wow thank you. In the past I have gone down and bought a whole new unit and replaced it and now this worked and was easy I will never have to buy new unit again. I didn't have to remove the whole tap though just unscrewed it from the tub at the top. Thank you so much😇😇

My Robinhood Supertub 1400 has a different kid of tap, which lacks the securing nut under the knob. Looks like my mate Authur Rightus and I are in for some work.

Play sand makes better sense because of the price. I have seen many people show you alternatives that cost more than they are worth. If you don't leave your bags where mice or other animals could get them you can use things like rice, popcorn or even hard beans. I have used popcorn in shooting bags in the past. But I leave my things at a farm now and have to worry about mice eating their way in. So, I will be back to play sand. Problem with any alternative is the price and not even knowing whether there will be enough when you buy it to even fill the bag or bags.

Most excellent video. I don’t really feel like going to this much trouble knowing that one person tightening it too much will wreck it again. I wonder if you could replace the taps? Maybe not financially sensible but I like to reuse

Important to turn a hose tap on when turning water off and leave it on when you turn water on. Water comes out of there first , stops loading the inside taps, cistern with instant high pressure. Also if any grit is dislodged it will flow out tap and not to sistern or nefa/ ajax walve and lodging in washer. 🙂

Thanks for the video. You read my mind - this is exactly what I wanted to do! The dark path beside my house needed lighting, but unfortunately it is also too dark during the day for the solar panels to charge the batteries properly. After getting everything wired up, I discovered a fatal flaw. The lights do not come on when receiving power. I can only assume that they think that if the solar panels are receiving daylight energy then it's not night! At the moment, the only solution is to find a way of only mains charging the batteries for a few hours during the day. To be continued...

Remember the old saying KISS. Keep it simple silly. Dont charge the batteries. Just power the LED's. Run the lights in series if possible keeping it under 30V. Less chance for a mean zap if something isn't insulated properly plus much easier to find a suitable power supply. Hook your lights power supply to a timer or daylight senser and you're done.

Great video. Thanks for the detailed info. I found I did not need to remove the manifold to remove the valve stem. Just screwed it out in situ. Saved a lot of time. I put a bucket under the tub to catch the residual water in the line. Next time l would grease around tap and all residual water would flow into the tub. Thanks again, I would be lost without the video.

You usually only stick the names on the back of the board of the people who “up the table” (to avoid an eight-piece dicking) or alternatively the names of those who get eight pieced. So in either instance you get your shame highlighted for posterity.

If you want to stop voltage drop for long runs of cable use AC volts, then at each outlet add a diode and cap to turn it back to DC.

Don't solar lights stop working because their batteries need to changed or charged? Do they really only last 2 months and then need to be thrown away?
