Great video. You saved yourself $500-$600 plus the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands.

Watched a few of these. I really like three things on this video: 1) Time lapse sped up. 2) Using only half a barrel. Not like they're expensive but a full height 55g seems a bit tall to enjoy the fire. 3) Clean as you go. From a person who's made nothing but ginormous messes with each project, this simple little practice of cleaning as you go is a good habit to form.

0:25 Before you do this on closed drum, make damn sure the old contents of the drum were not flammable. Vapors can be just as explosive as the former contents, and guys have gotten killed cutting into "empty" drums that exploded. I was just reading about a guy in Pennsylvania who got killed by a burn barrel last week. Another incident in Iowa killed a man who was welding on top of a barrel, using it as a workbench. Filling the drum with water before cutting into it can displace explosive vapors, if done correctly.

Looks great but I wish you had slowed a little and also a little closer at times to show what you did. I know others as well as myself want to build something like this but need the closer details. But the end product looks great!

Very Nice 👍..... Where can we buy the blueprints to build??

The little sketch at the beginning was all I used. Having made a few of these now, I've found that all 55 gal drums are not equal. This drum carried a food product, but drums for chemicals are a bit different, I like the food product drums better...and easier to clean!

How did you attach the inside to the outside. It looked like rivets but I don't see anything when you show the inside view

Thanks for watching!...I used self-tapping screws for all fastening. Many fires this summer...it worked well!
