I beveled many foot of pipe ! Hand torch bevel, beveling machines, plasma arc, air tool beveler, even used grinders w/cut off discs !! Probably have pounds of grinding dust in my lungs from all the grinding !! We called the facing process Nickle, or Dime LANDING !! I've seen some Pipeliners use a hand torch to cut a bevel, and you could clean it up with a file ! It was that slick !! Another note is on those beveling machines H&M, or Mathey Deerman make sure you have the proper dogs/spacers that go with it ! H&M bevelers require CUBOID SPACERS it says so on the machine, and Mathey Deerman use round dogs/spacers ! DON'T MIX THEM UP, or it will cut pipe out of square !! Have fun with Bob Moffett !!
