Not just Smokey. Other members of The Miracles (such as Ronnie White and Pete Moore) wrote and produced songs for the group and other Motown acts, too. White was even credited with "discovering" Stevie Wonder.

"Jackie Wilson - Higher & Higher Official Video " Released in August 1967, the song reached number one on the US Billboard R&B chart and, in November, peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 6. Wilson's version also rose to no. 11 & 15 upon the UK Singles Chart during 1969 and 1987 respectively. A great Motown R&B track from 1967. So good it was re-released 20 years later and managed to climb the charts. An absolute classic.

Oh and another great dance song, gosh we had it good back then! I remember dancing literally for hours to Tamala Motown, hit after hit. Smokey Robinson was everywhere, radio, dance clubs, shows on tv. Master songwriter for decades.

It'll take a lot of mondays to do justice to Motown. Thanks for these reactions.

My favorite song of 1970. I turned 14 that year, and started high school soon afterwards.

Would I Love You is my favorite song by Smokey & the Miracles. Shop Around is great, too, & Ooh Baby Baby, & many, many more.
