Total mood! I've worn glasses since I was 6 years old (and contact lenses on and off since I was in my teens but I mostly wear glasses now all the time. I can't afford contact lenses and my insurance doesn't cover them. Only glasses.) and I've always wondered what it's like to just wake up and see normally! LOL!

I got married this year and only had 4 people at my ceremony and a drive by reception. Covid really changed what I thought a special wedding should be. I loved having a very small ceremony. It was us and our parents (plus the person performing the ceremony) and I wouldn't change that for the world. We had originally planned for having a wedding with over 200 guests and I am so glad we did not. I wish you all the luck planning your wedding. Remember to enjoy it all in the moment. It can be stressful, but it is about you and Charles. :)

The one thing that’s very difficult with schools staying closed is us parents who need to go back to work. I’m a single mom with 3 yr old twins and an 11 yr old. I had to stay home once my childcare was closed and I’ve been waiting on unemployment for 10 weeks and haven’t gotten the first payment. Plus the extra government money is done now so we are not going to make it if I don’t go back to work. Now I have to figure out how to survive and keep my kids home. It’s such a rough time right now in the whole world.

That's so exciting! I used to help students get registered to vote while I was in college, some tips I recommend: make sure you've signed up to get your mail in ballot so you can spend time at home researching candidates and can avoid having to wait in line to vote/find a ride to a polling location. Also, if you forget to mail your ballot in time, you can just drop it off at a polling place and it'll still be counted! I also recommend double checking every three weeks that you're still registered to vote, as some people are finding out that they are no longer registered when they try. It's better to catch it as early as possible if it happens to you or your friends.

Edie Côté it is GLORIOUS! I started wearing glasses when I was 4. I got lasik at 46 and have 20/15 vision now. I know it isn’t an option for everyone, but if I had it to do over I’d have done it years ago. My vision was really, really bad - like -7.5. If you ever get the chance, do it!

I’ve been a homeowner for 1 week, and it still hasn’t hit me on an emotional level. I still feel like a renter...it’s weird. Edit: as a person that’s done the big wedding with reception afterwards I can suggest: Elope or small group on a special date and then schedule a reception later on that can be a big bash. We never got our honeymoon but we used the money for other things.

Here in New Zealand we locked down for 5 weeks, the government and public listened to health experts and then we were COVID free until returning New Zealanders brought it back (all are currently in managed isolation). Feeling super lucky to be back in person at university, for the most part the country is back to normal :)

I am still doing all quarentine precautions but my state is now #10 in cases and nothing seems to be getting shut down or done and people just don’t seem to even care. As a retired teacher, several years in kindergarten, that's what I keep thinking, too. There's no way to keep kindergarteners away from each other. Even if you only had 4 students, they'd be all over each other. There is just no good solution. I think it will be like what's happening in the whole country. They'll try to open it up and then many people will get sick and some tragedies will occur, and they will have to back off. We can all see it coming, but what are we going to do?

My classes start up again on the 19th. I'm Brazilian and we were supposed to be starting up our second semester, but instead we're picking up from where we left off in the first semester, which was like 2 weeks long. Mind you, this is an unique case for us - a lot of schools around me, particularly private schools with funding to fall back on, kept going from day one in a virtual format. But I go to a public national college, and there was a lot of debate regarding students that couldn't afford food during the crisis, let alone a stable internet connection to watch classes online. Just thought I could offer an international insight for you. :P Wish us luck! By the way, I worked a 13 hour shift today, and coming here to watch you play with makeup in my favorite colors while chatting to the camera like you were talking to your chaotic good friends was just what I needed to relax. Woa. Must be weird! And hard. Plus, it’s so not great for small kids to be in front of a screen and not see other children. When my son was at home (he is back to daycare/kindergarten) he found it so hard not to see his friends and interact with them and all. I can’t even imagine what would happen if he was stuck to a screen all day interacting with people other than his parents through a screen. It has to have an impact long term. Im fron AB too. Yeah honestly not sure what they are expecting to happen. It's like they say "well we dont KNOW if it's going to go terribly so let's try it with the least inconvenience and hope it's okay." Be safe you guys. I really hope their optimism is well placed. Take care of yourselves as much as you can 💜 The numbers are obviously much better here than the states. So it could be okay. Just be cautious. Going back to class will be best for kids in a lot of ways, so I hope it's okay. Just wish they found a middle ground.

I'm a fourth grade teacher at a school that's predominantly lower income. we're all virtual for the first quarter, which I'm really thankful for, but a lot of the concerns you talked about are concerns I have as well. But I'm really glad my district decided earlier on in the summer to give them enough time to make plans to help all those kiddos. I was worried they'd try to send us back in person too early and then have to shut down abruptly again and those kids wouldn't get the help they needed, which was pretty much the case in the spring. sending Charles good vibes, our sped teachers are so important and so under appreciated!!

I have very dry sensitive eyes to start with, and I haven't tried to put my contacts once since March... I don't want to risk it at this point! Also, just got word that my mom's two-year-old students, many with special needs, will be required to wear masks to school. I understand why (I support mask wearing of course), but I also know there's no way those masks are staying on. And I'm just scared for everyone. My teacher friends, my mom who is over 60, and the kiddos, quite a few of whom are immuno-compromised.

Hannah u are so lucky to have a state with leadership!!! I'm in upstate South Carolina, and our city has been struggling to make people wear masks. Our Govenor just left and went to his mansion to hide. The schools are different by district, but the district closest to me is doing a hybrid system of A and B days. We are a hotspot. 52 people died yesterday in my state. Hospital beds are fluctuating between 70 and 90% capacity statewide. My office has been so negligent with COVID. Everyone one but me is at the office, masks off, eating lunches together, having meetings with the general public, etc. They don't care!! My risk is about to be higher because all the people I work with are sending their kids to brick and mortar school to 'get them out of the house.' I'm watching this state fall, and it makes me so mad!!! I just had to vent. I wish our Govenor would stop hiding and make masks required, but that's 'infringing on freedom.'

OKAY I HAD THE SAME THING WITH MY EYES. It took the eye doctors forever to figure out, I actually developed an allergy to the preservative in contacts ! They switched me to a specific daily type (astigmatism too- super fun)

I had contacts that dried me out so bad. I was light sensitive and felt like someone threw sand in my eye. They would also throb..never happened to me before.

I could NOT wear contacts. I constantly got corneal abrasions. So, in December during a break from school, I got laser correction surgery. It took several weeks to really be able to see but being 8 months out from surgery...it was totally worth it. Waking up and being able to see is amazing.

It's so interesting to hear what's going on with everything your side of the water. I'm from Scotland, and in my specific region we haven't had a confirmed case since the middle of May, and we go back to school (I work in learning support) next week, pretty much the same way we would any other year, just with higher hygiene practices.

I'm a grad student in the Midwest. My college's plan is to hold our small grad classes (>6 people) in person with masks and social distancing. Most undergrad classes are online, but occasionally as a TA I get to host optional in-class lectures. All students and staff have the option to go fully online if they want.

Hi Hannah! I’m a teacher in south Texas (one of the areas worst affected by COVID rn) and they told us the same thing about going back to school to teach distance learning. After the cases shot up, the district changed their mind and decided it was going to be a choice to work from campus or from home on a daily basis for at least 4 weeks. I’m at risk, I honestly don’t feeling confident going back until there is a vaccine. I’m really hoping things just magically get better with COVID I guess..

Tip for contacts: use the clear care contact solution that you submerge in a vertical tube- it bubbles and disinfects overnight. The flat case containers and respective contact solution is not as good. That should help with eye redness.

I’m glad to hear you’re online! I have all the same concerns about colleges opening as you. My school gave professors the option of moving their class online. 1 of mine did, 1 is doing a mixed class, 1 gave the option to her students (I chose online), and the other 2 are in person. I decided to add a sixth class which is online but it’s like the capstone class for my program which id rather take in the spring/in person since it involves a lot of group work. My plan is to see how the two in person one mixed schedule goes/how I like taking the Capstone online, then either take all six classes, drop an in person one, or drop the capstone. The idea of having to be on campus is making me so anxious. They moved my in person classes into auditoriums so there will probably be enough distancing, but I’m worried about the shuttles. I’m worried if I get sick/come into contact with a sick person, will I get excused from the in person class or will my grades suffer? It’s all a mess. I just wish I could enjoy my second to last semester of college but well...

I work at Portland State University and they’re doing a weird mix of in person and mostly online learning options. I thankfully am working from home with my husband (who is a grad student there) for the foreseeable future. It’s tough to be thankful for that sometimes when I miss my office and coworkers so much. But then I remember that being alive and keeping everyone else safe is like, kind of a neat thing to do too... so everyone pls stay home, wear your masks, etc 💕✌🏻

We started school today. I’m thankful that we doing online since we start so early and numbers in AZ have been growing so rapidly. The first day online with lots of tech issues though was rough. It was great seeing all my new students in my zoom classes though.

I have had like 3 or 4 of my friends in the past few years and recently do the whole, get married first with close-close family and then a year or two later have the large reception. I feel like, that trend is becoming more and more popular, which is great... because if you do want separate venues for wedding/reception etc it can save a lot of money.
