Is it better to soak the wood chunks in water for awhile Heath, to make them last longer and smoke more. I have also used Apple wood soaked in water. Great Job. That old song when smoke gets in your 👀Eyes...........Great camera work Rachel 🥰!

Stanley, I used to soak my wood chips but read that it doesn’t do much, and after seeing how little moisture was actually soaked up by the wood in my moisture meter video I don’t know that it really helps. I will be taking down a few apple trees see on and it will all be smoker wood.

Smoking always takes forever, but worth it in the end. You have to avoid trying to speed up the process. Nice work guys!

That looks delicious Heath. I’ve only used a dehydrator to make jerky but I’m sure the smoker adds a lot of great flavor. You’re right, the price of jerky in the store is insane.

I raised a couple of pigs last year and filled 2 freezers. I use an electric smoker (solar panels so it made sense) my main problem is getting good smoking wood because most of them don't grow out here
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
David, electric smokers are definitely easier to control and with solar would be a no brainer. Luckily we have plenty of great smoker wood available here.

Not all lump charcoal is created equal. Although I do believe Cowboy lump may have stepped up their game a little bit recently. Pick you up some Rockwood lump sometime and see how you like the burn time and smoke flavor of that.👍🏻

Are you using the plastic intake port & tube, or the metal replacements for your Kamander? I have a Kamander that I haven't used yet, but it has the plastic intake tube. I bought the replacement metal intake tube but Charbroil no longer makes the metal intake port so I haven't installed it yet. Just wondering if it's worth doing the replacement or if the plastic intake system will work fine.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I still have the original plastic intake tube. However it has melted where it connects to the bottom of the grill. I tried to get the metal replacement but I too found out they were no longer available.
@jcbever1511
@jcbever1511 Жыл бұрын
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors Well that's a bummer. I was going to send you the link for the metal replacement kit, but you're right. They stopped making it. I guess I got my order in on time for the metal intake kit (tube). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to buy the air intake cap (which has a different bolt pattern than the plastic cap), so I'll have to fabricate something if I decide to keep this smoker.

Bear with me.. Get some bertello or other frozen dough. Thaw it out and then pre-bake it on the pampered chef stone in the grill. Add some fresh tomato purée with fresh herbs, thin sliced fresh mozzarella ( not that junking Kraft of grocery store pre shredded). Top with green peppers, black olives, sweet Vidallia onion, some fresh venison sausage with fresh ground seasoned pork. Top with a layer of smoked ghouda cheese on top. That stone would be perfect…

I buy all our meat straight from the butcher. I have him cut the entire round in his slicer for jerky and then package it in 1# packages. It costs me about $3.40 a pound of meat regardless of cuts.

The price of everything you buy is insane and it’s getting worse every year. I haven’t been on this earth all that long but I can remember when you could buy a can of pop, bag of chips, and a candy bar for a dollar. Man those days are gone. And then you had the older generation talking about a bottle of pop and a candy bar being 5 or 10 cents.
