I’ve been toying with buying one or a year… my akorn rusted out so I finally purchased. Very happy with my purchase $270 (including vet discount) purchased on a super buy deal (only available for a few hours at that price) caught it on sale at like 1am.

I’m SOLD! This is exactly what I needed to see before being persuaded…been searching for a new grill/smoker for a couple months…stumbled across this Akorn tonight, then was looking for a video to show how long it would hold coals at a consistent temp and this video nailed it! Appreciate it!

I have a friend with an Egg. He's amazed that my Akorn stays touchable on the outside and how little fuel it uses. First experience was a brisket that was on about 15 hours. When I took it off and cleaned up he saw how much lump was left and wanted to know when I had reloaded it. He didn't believe me when I said I hadn't.

I’ve got a regular Akorn had since 2015. 16 hours is the longest I’ve done a cook. Knew it would go much longer always wondered how long she would go. Thanks for the video love content. New to your channel.

Wow, there was a whole other couple of cooks worth of charcoal left after the 38-hour checkup. Awesome job by the Kamado... Great effort on the video as well, three days at it! My favorite shirt was the Callahan Auto Parts! Shout out TOMMY BOY! ✊

The bottom is replaceable with the original akorn bottom with the vent so worse case you can have one on standby and if the fan fails, swap the bottoms and use it like a regular akorn

I’ve had a MB 1050 gravity series and it has been great, but geez it burns through charcoal. I m to the point now where I’m looking to replace it, I’ve used the heck out of it. This is a very intriguing option! Thanks for your videos. I might go this direction. I love charcoal and the temp control ability.

I just did an impulse buy on the Auto Kamato Kamado and it's all your fault 😫 and it was only $234 total. Now my family is going to be eating delicious smoked meats, pizzas and such every other day. 😫♨️

This in insane, like INSANE insane. I use regular Charcoal in my MB 560 and I know lump burns very differently. I get around 12 hours on a full hopper, which is 16lb of charcoal. It holds 10lb of lump, which is about twice as much that you used. I know it's not 1:1 for burn time on a full hopper. But with a full hopper of lump I bet I wouldn't get much more than 10-12 hours. You got 3 times that, with enough left over for maybe another day of use, and only used half what my 560 holds. This grill looks like it could be 5x as efficient, hell maybe 6x, and as far as space it's not really a whole lot smaller. I'm blown away by your results. The low and slow results are crazy, you should do a video testing like 400-500f. I'm assuming it would still be far more efficient than a 980 or other gravity. I hardly break out my MB any more because it eats up like 5lb of charcoal just doing a short cook or burgers or something.

Wow, excellent video and that smoker is amazin. I don't understand the working of that smoker, where you use lit charcoal but you control it with the electronics on the left side? Whatever it does it does it perfectly. I think I need to get one of those for sure. You got me sold for sure. Hey thanks very much for the shout out on Heaven Made Products, that was awesome & greatly appreciated. Hey there. Looking at a non auto version and I'm pretty new to this. I saw someone use an 18in webber grate with a pan wrapped in tin foil as drip tray/smoking stone. Have any thoughts on that? Not sure if the thickness of the stone matters in diffusing the heat to make it indirect or not. Watched your putting together video and this one - gonna have to check more out when mine comes in
@PoliticallyIncorrect90

Watch the Tom Horsman video on this. He uses the stone diffuser from another Akorn wrapped in foil (to keep it clean) with a pan for a drip tray. It looks like the included metal diffuser might be a bit concave, possibly not allowing the pan to sit level. Not sure about that though.

I haven't tried a Weber grate and pan, but I use the regular Akorn smokin stone most of the time. Sometimes I'll toss a larger pizza stone on top of that for more coverage
