You know Vergil is technically stronger than Dante right? In the cutscenes their duels are even. 100 wins, 100 losses. What makes Vergil stronger than Dante is the fact he uses Yamato. He has yet to use his own legendary weapon that holds his name. Yamato is powerful but not nearly as strong as Dante's self named weapon. Dante, Sparta, ect are all weapons born from raw energy and can cut reality. If someone that isn't the true owner of the named weapon, Dante for example using Sparta, can use its power but at a lower scale. Vergil uses Yamato, a named weapon, but he isn't Yamato themself, can't use its full power. Yet he's at the same power scale as Dante and only loses when we're controlling Dante because of plot armor. Also remember in Virgil's demon form after V was cast out bitch slapped Dante into a coma. That was before Dante got his named sword and even before Vergil ate the fruit.

@@Kicne ​​⁠ wrong, in overall firepower Dante has the upper hand, the only reason Vergil won the fight before dmc3 and the first fight in dmc3 was because he had Devil Trigger, even if he didn’t use it we can see that just having it makes you much stronger already. Plus DSD has 2/3rds of Spardas power in it, as Sparda split his power into 3 to create the swords, if were talking canonically too, Dante also has doppelgänger and can slow down time without some sort of item. The reason they draw a lot is because other characters just LOVE to butt in on their battles, but if the brothers were to have a fight to the end, Dante would win, we can see that in the final boss of DMC3 even when Vergil has the Force Edge which still has some amount of demonic power even when it’s not Sparda. Also, Dante doesn’t use “plot armor”, the reason he can keep fighting and keep winning is because of his reason for fighting, in DMC the reason for fighting often plays a heavy role in deciding the victor for a fight. There are multiple examples of this, either way Dante beats Vergil any day.
