This is a great tutorial thank you! I have one question...I am designing a top-down roguelike in pixel art. The player can attack in 360º (via mouse tracking). What I am trying to wrap my head around is the best way to animate these moves. Do you have four directions and then rotate the animation towards the cursor? the doesn't seem right with what you've got here. any insight would be tremendously helpful. thank you!!

This was awesome, loved it! How would you handle animating diagonal attacks, such as north-east, south-west, etc.? Or in the game if the player is facing a diagonal direction, would you just play the up/down animation or something?

I want to make a top down game but i always get so worried about having to making animations for all 8 directions for movement, special effects, attacks, etc. Do I just need to sit down and grind out all that art?

Why does the cape flap on attack down, but swings on attack up? If it’s the same attack, shouldn’t animation physics be consistent?

I can't find the Z-index property, is it some kind of addon? And if so, how would I go about adding it?

So it's a new feature and might only be available in the aseprite beta version. If you have it on steam, just right click and you'll see the beta thing!
