THIS is why Chapter 6 is my all time favorite! The whole soundtrack for the chapter and having to help and save the passengers again and again.. only to have an epic fight on a train with a swarm of Smorg to this Sick ass bass and beat. I hope they port this soon this is my favorite game of all time and I miss it.

The smorgs were such a random antagonist for this chapter, but I kind of liked them. They were just these... weird creatures you found in Riverside Station just doing their own thing. Then you forcibly get rid of them, so I guess they had it out for you and decided to hold some hostages

I think they were made/controlled/ directed by Beldam in some way. My headcanon is they were part of Shadow Queen's forces 1000 years ago.

​@@RyouShi98 you probably know this but leaks and cut content show a scrapped fight against the shadow sirens in chapter 6, probably as a midboss like in chapter 2 and iirc the smorgs were specifically created by beldam too, so you are not too far off

Originally, the story was that Beldam apparently created them as means to stop Mario but they ran out time to incoperate that so they're just beasts out of nowhere (originally the Shadow Sirens and Doopliss were going to be fought at Riverside Station)

Yeah, from my experience, the excess express is either someone's most or least favorite chapter in the game, being easily the most polarizing. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I can definitely see the reasons why a lot of people just plain don't like it, and they are certainly more than valid criticism.

i love the smorg fight because it’s right after you get the ultra boots and i usually do a charge & jumpman build. along with p-up d-down & as many power plus badges as i can get, spend the first few turns attacking with vivian while charging as mario then one shot him with super jump as soon as the core is exposed. one time i even got double star points on smorg right after doing this, it was like crack but better

The flow of this theme is held to by the bass and the bass drums are nerfed hard and in all remakes sadly instead of integrated with all the electric vibes
