Whats interesting is how our warframes react to the Fass/Vome cycles. If Fass is up and we walk on the affected fields with its flesh our screen gets the magnetized status but when we walk on Vomes affected fields we move faster meaning Tenno/Warframes are seen as an ally to order and an enemy to chaos by the infestation.

Warframes are technically a form of infestation, coming from the Helminth strain. It is theoretically possible that there's 2 sub-strains of the Grey Strain on deimos. Grey-A being the typical infested and Fass. Grey-B being the Entrati, Vome, and our lovely infested conservation targets/pets. Quite possibly, Grey-B typically recognizes Helminth as an ally, whereas Grey-A recognizes Helminth as an enemy. Or at the very least, Grey-B recognizes Helminth as "enemy of my enemy".

As some have stated before, the idea of the infestation artificially generating competition and a need to evolve in order to stop itself from stagnating is rather interesting. However the constant ebb and flow of population, and the existence of "prey" infested perhaps implies that the hivemind intentionally creates this conflict to conserve momentum in its growth. A classic trope of zombie movies is that the only way to beat them is to wait for them to grow so old and withered they can't be a threat... What if the infested, especially on Deimos, where the moon is entirely overrun, uses the predator/prey relationship to cull weaker units, and "recycle" the biomass to manufacture new creatures?

Vome is on our side!" and then we get Torgue again with "MY BAD! An interesting analysis regarding the infestation, I hope they dig deep into this in future content. The Infested is too vague in lore on a few fronts and doesn't get as much attention as the other factions. For now we don't seem to have much in terms of infested lore, but a curious thing is emerging when we consider the different strains so far. For instance, the strain on Mercury seems to be held back by the Grineer yet it is of the original strain (if the Once Awake quest is something to consider). The same strain that can be found in the Derelicts now located on Deimos. This is important because this strain was a problem for the Orokin Empire, which begs the question: Are the Grineer just better at containing the Infestation or is the infestation in Mercury holding itself back? One other thing that bothers me is this "Grey Strain" term; this implies that there are other strains out there than this one, but we only know of three by name: Mutalist (born from Alad V's experiments), the Helminth and the Grey Strain. This bothers me because Deimos just emerged and was secluded, how would they know of the Mutalist Strain? Also the Helminth was involved in Warframe production which was a very secretive thing. So either there's other strains out there... or the Helminth Strain was known and had other uses outside of Warframe production. Sorry for the text but this video got me thinking. XP

The "male side" referred to here is the collection of masculine character traits associated with Equinox's Day Form, appearance, animations, etc.

Since new war is known to be coming I think the gray strain is keeping itself in check while waiting for the new war to happen or end. The infestation might know it’s holding the source to the void and is protecting so the Tenno can fight the sentients which are the only think the infestation can’t infest. So if the sentients win in the new war the infestation loses as it loses access to being to infect.

I think the term "grey" is to show that the strain is trying to keep itself in check. The infestation evolves and adapts to survive, but in Deimos's case they have control of over 90% of the "planet", so its biggest adversary is the strain itself. Also, we know that the Infestation is highly aggressive against those who can resist the hivemind and act indepedently (the Myconias from Nidus quest). Yet the Entrati are still not attacked by the infestation. Yes, they are infested, but their free will still poses a threat. Maybe the blue infestation in the Necralisk's door was Vome's doing, so that the infested are calmed down before they try to attempt to break the door.

Honestly, I often wonder if we're actually in tandem with Mother's ideal of reclaiming Deimos rather than just using her to further our own warmongering habits, the Drift is but a tiny speck of overun land sandwiched between two colossal beings that are content in outright ignoring the genocidal machines running amok killing it's kin and stripping the land of it's resources and generally messing with it's ecosystem all to focus on their own rivalry. And when you look at the skybox around the drift you come to realise there is so much more out there covered in infestation and who knows how many more of those titans just sleeping.

Tbf, you're just exploiting a tiny part of the "whole planet", considering what we can see outside of the roamable planes, and they've ignored the family for some time now I'd say, so just some random infested (Warframe) causing havoc like the rest of its kin in its arms race against itself, doesn't sound new or threatening, since the infestation is eating itself and getting eaten by itself in that place, there's little to nothing left uninfected.

Technically any Warframe could act as such, considering they're all Technocyte trapped inside shells. Nidus just happens to be the only one without such a shell.

I just realized that Vome is the "moon" of the Cambion Drift, and Fass is the 'sun" (or "son" of the cambion drift :] ) it's a completely sensical reason to have a day/night cycle in the cambion drift, which makes a lot of sense in the lore for the two, as well as taking some inspiration from some mythologies that say that the sun and the moon are constantly fighting. when Night comes, Vome kills Fass. when Day comes, Fass kills Vome. I like that detail.

For me it's 1 hive mind but with multiples dominant minds in it. Both Vome and Fass work together to keep Deimos under control but fight each other to gain dominance. This individuality might have appered when the Entrati where infested. They didnt lose themself completly to the gray strain and might actually have causes the creation of the cycle

Actually, according to it's native roots, the darker side is the more passive side while the lighter is the most active. So the designation is correct. In fact, in Yin-Yang, Yin (dark) is also considered more feminine and associated with the moon while Yang (light) is considered more masculine and associated with the sun... so it's literally perfect for Vome and Fass. In fact some of the Warframe choices in later updates reveal this trend too with the darker (moon) options being aligned with more passive reactions while the lighter (sun) options are more aggressive.

On top of what TheGameRuler said, it was probably an inteligent color choice too, as warmer colors (like Fass yellowish colors) can be easily related to danger, while colder colors (Like vome's blueish white) are more related to calm. Just like their behaviors when each respective worm is active.

Overall, an interesting video. Though, it does feel like there's a bit of needless repetition on reiteration of how the worms operate and the whole balance thing. Also, while we can find what appears to be the remains of Vome-type of worm in one of the "cave" areas called "Cerebrum Magna". I've looked on the warframe wiki, but not seen any info on such place for a Fass type of worm "carcass". Also, with the Heart and the Entrati being there prior to the infestation, I have to wonder if perhaps Fass is the infestation's corruption of this Vome-like worm thing, and Vome being akin to the Entrati themselves. A partially-infested but still separate individual. It may be much less about seeking balance, and more about an honest power struggle. Also, note that the Helminth is a strain of the Infestation, and that strain is where our Warframes come from. Perhaps there is some relationship between the Helminth and Grey strains beyond simply both being forms of Infestation? Grey-A may be more akin to the infestation we know an hate. Grey-B may be more shaped by Vome, the Entrati, and the creatures we hunt for Brother. Grey-B might in fact be a sub-strain capable of combatting and perhaps even neutralizing Grey-A. Possibly something that could be engineered into a cure, or at least a vaccine against Grey-A.
