[SMRT] TRAIN DERAILED - Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 [065/066]

065/066 encountered a fault and while withdrawing back to UPD TB3, according to SMRT and CNA the train “axle box on one of our first-generation trains dropped and caused the wheels of a bogie to come off the running rail and hit track equipment, including the third rail and point machines, leading to the power fault.” In other words, the train derailed and caused a massive power fault and wreaked havoc on the East-West Line. The fault is expected to continue to the following day.
In the video, 3066, 1066, 2066 and 2065 (derailed car) are still at the site, while 1065 and 3065 were pulled by a locomotive.

Thank goodness 207/208 is not damaged and derailed at all (and 213/214 being decommissioned last month followed by 317/318 few weeks ago it's also a good thing before this happened) while serving the Eastern section of the line currently as the disruption continues. They should seriously just scrap the KHI trains asap and let the R151 takeover instead

I heard my tutor teacher this morning during zoom class about the incident she said that the train that it already retired because it was from 35 years ago (If I’m wrong plz reply I want to know the whole incident since I was confused when the news app gave me a notification about the news)

Not all of the 35 year old 1st Gen trains have been scrapped yet, this process takes years as new trains undergo tests to be commissioned. Think of it as when one new train is added, one old train will be removed. It’s a slow but gradual process.

​@@TransportationONLYCan't they just retire most of these problematic trains (with 013/014 and 125/126 likely to be next to be decommissioned I hope after missing for few weeks alr) asap now that this disruption has happened and that one of the train is involved, even if KHI is refurbished it's still considered old and their technology is definitely outdated now

⁠​⁠@@SGrailadventure2004 I’m sure SMRT wants to retire them ASAP, but then with the limitation of R151’s undergoing tests, this has to be done in a slow and gradual way with the limited numbers of trains running to keep up with passenger demands.
