It's been a while since I've done one of these mail unboxings and since the last one many parcels have shown up.
Quite a few different things arrived including locomotives new and old, a rotary snow plow, building kits, spare parts and a bunch of different letters.
Most of these locomotives are projects however some were brand new. Notably a couple Bowser and Atlas engines along with a Scale Trains H3 BNSF GE product.

Glad you like the Alaska Rotary Snowplow, Harrison. I thought about choosing the BNSF plow, but don't recall you having much in the way of Alaska on the layout, plus it would really pop riding the rails. The Scale Trains would have been the showstopper, but there were many other things that caught my eye. The Delta Lines box car may have more significance than you think. This was the railroad of the late Frank Ellison who was an early pioneer in model railroading. His two rail O scale model railroad was featured in the Model Railroader in the early years of the magazine. He would rank up in the notable names of model railroading of people like John Allen of the Gorre and Daphetid fame. I did notice the Southern Crescent Limited Pacific from Tyco/Mantua. This locomotive was paired with matching Southern passenger cars which are some of the hardest to find. As for the soldering iron, the strange tool to with a plunger is a vacuum desolder tool for removing solder. Just push in the plunger, heat the solder joint, and push the button. The older solder should be removed. If not, just repeat the process. Also, I was of many that was pleased to see this soldering iron as someone who works on electronics. I save the "Big Guns" such as the current tool that you use for big jobs only that need extreme heat. Also, for using soldering irons, the best way to keep them in place is to use an iron holder. I have an old Radio Shack iron holder with a sponge to keep the iron from moving around. Hopefully, this was included in the package. There are many other cool things, but I need to start to wrap this up. I did see some items with Mehano motors. Have you ever thought about doing a motor replacement based on the videos from Scott Rails using the AliExpress motor? I have a couple locomotives that I plan to do the replacement. This may make a good video on the channel showing the "Proof of Concept" idea. Well, I could mention more, but this post is long enough. So, this is a great video, and congratulations on the mail call items. Hopefully, they will lead to more content.

Great video as usual. I enjoy these unboxings and testing of equipment. It is the reason I sent you a small box so long ago that I can't remember exactly what was in it. I think it was five older locomotives. Hope it didn't get lost. I'm jealous that you have that working snowplow and power unit. Very nice haul Harrison. Looks like that Bowser Soo Line is a patched Duluth South Shore & Atlantic locomotive. Soo Line borged DSS&A and since those Baldwins were fairly new they kept their original paint and Soo just put Soo on the long hood. Possibly that U25C can be modded to run on an Athearn chassis and the side frames modded to fit. Finally take a look at your local hardware store as they sell stands for soldering irons. The one I have came with it's stand but they're effectively a weighted plastic base with a funnel shaped spring thing and a depression with a sponge you can dampen to clear solder/flux build up from. Very handy to have and minimizes catching a hot iron with your gentleman's bits.

You finally got a Scaletrains locomotive, Harrison, and a Rivet Counter at that! A little history on the prototype, its known as an ES44C4, which is a variant of the ES44AC that uses 4 traction motors as opposed to 6 on the standard model. Only BNSF and Florida East Coast rosters these locomotives (although BNSF by far rosters most of those built). The locomotive has extra cylinders on the truck side frames, which allows it to lift the center axle of each truck to put all of the locomotive's weight on the powered axles. According to GE, the locomotives were supposed to meet or exceed the pulling power of a C44-9W or ES44DC. Unfortunately, the design was alot better on paper than it turned out in real world situations as the locomotives suffer from excessive wheel slipping, especially on wet rail! It also doesn't help that BNSF puts these things on trains they were never designed to haul. As for the Scaletrains model of this locomotive, I can say from experience this locomotive is exceptionally powerful, able to handle between 50 and 60 cars on level track. Nice haul overall, Harrison!

What a nice Suprise Harrison, you never know what you might find useful. The Chino Backshops custom decals of Arizona copper mines are very interesting to me. I've been to _all_ those locations with my interest in the copper industry and it's railroads. May have to get me some. So thanks to that follower. This is one of those times I wish I lived next door so I could come over and raid your new arrivals. I got one of those Revell building kits when I was a kid for my then layout. They still hold up. The Soo Line Baldwin DRS 6--6 1500 is pretty sweet. I have a few in SP and a brass one in Trona. Bowser is good stuff, have done quite a few locos important to me. The upcoming Alco C415 units are a favorite. Rotary plow pulling the giant tank car, only in the mind of SMT management. I need a nap after that epic unbox. PS there was a shop you visited that had a huge selection of Locos, like more than I'd ever seen in one place. Can you refresh me on the name? The runaway train consist is Alaska railroad units. Technically. They were rented from ARR to film and were painted dark brown or black to contrast the snowy backgrounds, and the director wanted a black and white feel. ARR didn't want any of its logos shown, but eastbound 12 that gets the caboose run through had the old school black with yellow striped paint scheme on the lead switcher.

28:26 The prototype locomotive for that model is the ALCO C-628 where C stood for Century, 6 for the number of axles, and 28 referrering to the horsepower in hundreds (2800 though the prototype was shy of that by 50 due to limitations of onboard DC generator technology) 29:35 The Rivarossi Burlington unit is based off the GE U-25C which was a contemporary prototype when the model was first introduced in the 60s. There might be a gearbox issue as the motor inside the cab drives a shaft which goes to a gearbox that then has output shafts on either end to drive the respective truck (also the body screws can break the mounting posts in the body if over tightened unfortunately)

SMT - As Gary Sprandel said, the Soo Line Railroad bought the Duluth, South Shore, & Atlantic Railroad in 1961. In 1962 the Soo Line Railroad started painting its diesels red with a very light gray (looks white) and black lettering. A friend of mine had the TYCO Cresent Limited 4-6-2 Pacific and could pull very long trains with it! The cylindrical device that came with the soldering iron is a vacuum desoldering pump and is used with the iron to remove solder. The " hunting tower " is actually part of the Revell sand house and that boxcar converted to a building was also made by Revell. The Baltimore & Ohio GP7 is a dual service locomotive - the "torpedo tube" air brake tanks on the roof made room between the trucks for the fuel tank and a water tank for generating steam to heat passenger cars. The REA car is actually an Express Refrigerator car and was commonly used in passenger trains and mail & express trains (The "Pullman Green" color) usually after the locomotives, or sometimes at the rear end of a train to be dropped off enroute. This car's use was to transport sea food across the country from the Gulf Coast.

I've been watching your channel for several months and I am fascinated by the skill you possess in repairing the items that are sent your way. I was wondering why people so generously send these items to you? Perhaps as a relatively new viewer of your channel I missed an earlier explanation you might have given as to why people send these items to you. To help quench my curiosity, can you please explain the seemingly unending generosity of your channel watchers? Perhaps you give them away after you repair them. Thank you for your reply.

I've been told by many folks who have sent things in its because my videos got them back in or into the hobby. It seems to me like quite a big thank you - a comment explaining this would already be more than enough to me but I appreciate the generosity. I've already done some giveaways but I intent to do more in the future as a way to pay it forward.

Yeah, the Mississippi delta railroad! I’m in Jackson, so I’m not in the delta area, but my dad knows the guy who owns it because they were in the national guard together. And I believe Atlas made a replica of it.

That N-scale Bachman Southern Pacific A + B set? They are in what was called the "Black Widow" paint scheme, and usually used for overnight freight service. Just thought you might want to know. Otherwise, just tell me to shut the heck up.... 😝

I prefer DC for the simplicity. It's not to say DCC is bad though, for club layouts its an excellent system.

9:50 thats a very interesting model, thats i believe an early soo locomotive when they had some sorta merger with the DSS&A, and iron ore hauling railroad near Duluth (i probably got that totally wrong), its a really nifty model, ive only ever seen some local wisconsin modellers make brass paints of those engines so its a pretty good find
