For this case yes, because i didn't want to relay emails from a different Public IP, but large corporate Environment has that, they try to keep Linux Server's mostly. There are options in the O365 admin portal to enable that, but using that exposes my environment, which i didn't want. Hence this is just a quick/simple example for people who want's to learn Relay/Mail communication flow. I just did an experiment to check whether it's working or not, as i do have many PS script's which i wanted to test in Lab.

You don't need a local mail server. You will just have to create that connector and it works.

Purchase subscription of O365 - register the domain name which you have bought from the Domain Registrar. Check for the MX record which will be the SMTP Relay address. Your application or whatever should have the option to enter SMTP details. Try enterring it there. From address can be anything. i.e [e-mail] To - will be your actual mailbox.
