Rags hates the platforming in Doom Eternal yes. Mayo has actually made a video defending it and I agreed with what he had to say in that. MauLer and Metal hate the platforming in From games which I get a bit more but they make stupid arguments agaisnt that too. Oh they mentioned Metroid Prime later and said it's integrated into the whole game, which it is in Eternal as well. They've also praised that for making certain weapons more useful in certain situations while criticising Eternal for it. They're incapable of being consistent.

1:27:40 This is one of my biggest problems with this podcast. Rags does 99% of the work for you. He's taken the ball to mere inches in front of his own goal, and all you have to do is gesture in the general direction and you'll score, but you (mostly the German) immediately lose the plot. Rags has just made an appeal to popularity, logical fallacy 101 stuff, and instead of hitting him where he's weakest as a fedora-tipper, you wing off into other games. Sure, there are better games than God of War, but that's tangential to this coverage. Additionally, if you had watched Mayo's original video for reference, you'd have even more of a slam-dunk because Mayo's main point about recharging magic & health is that it removes the craft from level design compared to classic GoW. You're right that the goal is to "streamline the game for normies" but highlighting the contrast between the calculated design of the previous series and the slapdash slop of the new one definitively discredits anyone who would call 2018 & Ragnarok masterpieces. I feel like a lot of your commentary can be dismissed as opinion if someone doesn't agree with your taste in games. When Rags says something so monumentally stupid as "combat is kinda like a puzzle if you load up the two with equivocated descriptors" and Fringy backs him up with a shitty example, the point to hammer home is that they are blurring lines and actively detracting from understanding. Don't just say, "weakness mechanics are old hat," get to the root of why that's bullshit. What is a puzzle and why is it meaningfully different from combat? Is there a greater good served by breaking down the barriers between these concepts? If the latter question does not have a good answer, then could the reason for it be disingenuous? Would Rags ever allow a debate opponent to play such self-serving word games against him? I think not. And highlighting that hypocrisy is much more likely to change minds than listing better made games.

@@poppag8281 If you want my opinion look for my comments in the original video however long ago that was, it's being too long to have another pedantic argument with their many parasocial fans. The only new thing I would add now would be to point out how unjustified their denials of DEI were. In retrospective those arguments became an humiliating shame with that consultant thing becoming wildly known.
