In 1995 I found this song and smudge, it helped me decide to go and move, travel and explore. I wrote the lyrics in the back of my journal. I traveled the country working odd jobs, meeting strange characters and writing my life. I ended up friends with Tom in 2002 and hanging out a lot, If I never heard the song in the first place which lead me to make the decisions I made I probably would not have ended up in the situation where we became friends.I miss you as the human jukebox with guitar at Stanmore road mate.

Did Evan actually write any of his own songs. Took from Nick Dalton too. At least we know where the defining pop rock sound of the 90s really came from, Sydney Australia! 😊

@@fotoautomatmusic You may remember a little tune called "Drug Buddy." Evan wrote that one solo. Also, I would think it was wrong if Evan brought nothing to Tom Morgan's songs. but honestly, Evan was a far better singer, and brought the songs he covered to a new level. Tom may be able to write a hell of a song, but he comes nowhere near to being able to sing like Evan. The partnership was a good one. Tom brought great catchy songs and Evan brought his voice and better production and instrumentation. And with Juliana on background vocals? The Lemonheads covers were appropriate, and not lesser ripoffs, like some covers out there. Honestly, many of the recordings from Half-A-Cow had plenty of raw talent, but kind of an amateur air to them.

@@RonaldReaganRocks1 yeh I like Lemonheads alot - heard them before Smudge in the 90s. Prefer Smudge now, but yes I agree his songs were written in true Aussie slacker style to be unpolished and Evan did the opposite to them - he polished all his songs up and made them hits. Tom Morgan I believe even declared himself to be a slacker so he'd likely be happy to sit back and ride the royalty coattails he'd be getting for authorship and let someone else do the touring and hard slog, so it wasn't by any means unjust. A marriage infact made perfectly. Its a shame more people dont realise alot of the big Lemonheads songs like Outdoor type, Into your arms were done by someone else. In the same way it irks me that people think 'Valerie' is an Amy Winehouse song coz it was such a random and obscure indie band to cover and she made it global. But hey, such is life.

@@fotoautomatmusic I actually thought that the best album of the '90s would have been a Lemonheads album that was all Smudge covers. I don't feel like "Come On Feel" really added anything to The Lemonheads music catalogue creatively. Are you from Australia?

This song doesn't have the drama and energy that the Lemonheads bring to it!

you're kidding ? the version Evan did for the record is way too fast and he sounds so whingey. I don't dislike lemonheads saw em bunchh in the 90s/00s - but this version trumps Evans attempt at rushing through it. Lemonheads did good versions of other songs they covered though like Outdoor type and Into your arms.

@@fotoautomatmusic That's funny cause I just listened to the original and I was yawning through it...LOL...I guess I just appreciate the "punk rock" esthetic that Dando brings to the song... The Lemonheads actually started out as a punk band in New England in the 80's... Also You should know that the Lemonheads were my favorite band in the 90's and even inspired me to become a singer songwriter... because of Evan's down to earth approach... but anyway... having said that... just yesterday I heard his version of Frying Pan... from a compliaitonin 93 that somehow go past me... it's my new fave... have you heard it? Also have you heard the work he did with the Sandwich Police... :-)
