That Ryu player definitely put in work. You can always tell when a Ryu is good in Third Strike because of how fast they can get the Denjin charge out. He was even using meaty fireballs to set it up. That guy’s got some skills.

Honestly I won't laugh at Smug for this. This isn't like the Megaman-X8 nightmares he's lived through. Ryu is a balanced character compared to the true top tiers of SF III, but Denjin with its stun setups is ABSOLUTELY the best super of Ryu. So props to this guy picking him up 🎉

@@DPL58 (Bare in mind I do not main Ryu, don't take what I say as gospel) The main thing you want is a knockdown, ideally in the corner. Any can work: a throw, sweep, Tatsu, the best case scenario is a DP cancelled into Denjin but if you can't actually visually confirm a DP that's dangerous. After the knockdown, you either go straight into Denjin if you have a lot of time to charge, or do a meaty fireball cancelled into Denjin if you don't. You can either release Denjin early (as soon as the opponent gets up) or slightly delay it in order to get them to whiff a parry and get them on the parry cooldown, making your Denjin unavoidable. Mix the timings up to force them to guess.

Parrying can be hard due to the different scenarios and timings. If he's in your face or pretty close up charging just hit him with the fastest thing you can. Jab, grab, uppercut, super. When I get grabbed my denjin usually passes right through people. Trade uppercut or super can give you time to mash out of dizzy. Sometimes I outright lose denjin from being hit.

To guess or narrow the timings with the denjin. Think about the baseball theory. Are the throwing a fast ball , floater or curver ball. Each one has their own solution dependant on character

Funny thing is even if you came back and won the set, I think you would've still lost points 'cause of how the ELO system works on there. Like if you're A rank and you win 5-4 against someone a lot lower like a C rank, I believe you lose points anyway for taking it to the final game like that. S rank is pretty hard to keep 'cause of that. If you don't sweep B ranks or you start losing to A ranks, you'll lose your S really fast. It also decays faster than other ranks do. It's why most games only have a handful of dudes with it.

I think you were victim of the rank decay fightcade has: basically you didn't played much and any significant losses subtracts points from your rank, therefore dropping to B. Don't worry about that, rank isn't everything.

Its Ryu's best super and his only good super. SA1 is a utility Super while SA2 is a punishing super. Ryu's tool kit is not that good in 3S since he has a mountain to climb against character like Dudley, Makoto, Ken, Chun, Yun...Is it cheap? No, because you can parry it. Does it make players scared? absolutely.
