Snacks, great! Weight maintenance, yes! Focus on sugar and other simple carbs (cake, cookies, trail mix, biscuit, ice cream,etc), terrifying! All high-glycemic foods that _contribute_ to dementia and inflammation in general. Not a nutritional value in sight. Exactly the kind of ignorance (albeit well-meaning) that makes the elder care system so problematic.

I wish I had this information when I was taking care of my mom. I had no idea that she needed extra calories and protein, and her dr never mentioned it.

I appreciate the advice. Maintaining a healthy weight is important. But if anyone is interested, research and by research I mean “Google” Type 3 diabetes.

Ya that's nice to help them! But they said their not worried 😟 about their cholesterol obviously they are not worried about diabetes or other medical problems? 😲 I understand you want them to gain some weight 🏋 that's all they are focused on! But I am 63 and now have kidney failure stage 4 and have to now watch what I can have to eat & drink? 😱 I can only have up to 2, 0000 mg of potassium a day. And not much protein maybe 40 or more? And not much salt or I have to take blood pressure pills 💊 and I can have some sugar not a lot? I try to use sweetner like Splenda or Truvia no equal! And sometimes I do eat cakes & pies but I really shouldn't I can have milk just don't over do it and my kidney doctor 😷 said for me to only drink when thirsty! But taking lots of medicine💊💊💊💊💊💊💉💉💉 makes you thirsty? I drink coffee ☕ & tea 🍵 I need to watch my cholesterol too. 🍶🍸🍹🍷🍴🍕🍔🍟🍗🍖🍝🍛🍤🍱🍣🍥🍙🍘🍚🍜🍲🍢🍡🍳🍞🍩🍮🍦🍨🍧🎂🍰🍪🍫🍬🍭🍯🍎🍏🍊🍋🍒🍇🍉🍓🍑🍈🍌🍐🍍🍠🍆🍅🌽 and everything in moderation is key 🔑 for anyone who is watching there health! 🏩🏨🚑🚑🚒🚔🚓 I also have to take 2 sodium bicarbonate. 3 times a day = ever 8 hours. And you must have some food on your stomach when taking it! That's to keep the acid down in my blood! And for my kidneys! I take thyroid & cholesterol and pain pills and anti diarrhea pills! And some vitamins ! And need. Vitamin D 50,000 unit only once a week! So ya while you are fatting up your patients, you maybe doing them harm if they have other medical issues? And they probably do because of their age? 😱 just hope they are being monitored for whatever is necessary. For their health?
