I remember this when I watched it in the 80s. The broadcaster sent this and Dynasty every 2nd time and stopped the series when there was a drama going on. Just to keep the excitement on in each of them. I loved both series.

The theme song was written by an Italian ( heritage). Is that surprising? (Think of Ennio Morricone). Nothing this elegant, glorious and decadent is provided by Hollywood anymore. Its all politically correct, silly bull sh** sitcoms and reality shows today. A reflection of why society is worse off now than we were 25 years ago. Damn, why does entertainment keep getting worse? Despite the treachery, egotism and gold digging demonstrated by this nighttime soap, the protagonist, Angela Channing, (Jane Wyman) did something no other television character in her position aspired to do: keep the family together and protect and defend the land that belonged to them. What a powerful and wholesome message when you come to think of it, really. There was an honorable message to be gleaned from this television series. I don't think we can say the same about any other. Especially the garbage they shovel out today. I miss these shows.

I can tell you that lots of people know that feeling, James! I was 11 - 12 years old and had to watch it in the afternoon the next day. But the big conversation at school from Kids who were alowed to stay up came with some spoilers during the day. Not nice......
