Snagging a LIMIT of Paddlefish with Garmin LiveScope - Truman Lake

In this video, my friends and I spend the day snagging for paddlefish at Truman Lake. We put in at Talley Bend, and wasted no time finding spoonbill! The kicker is, we caught them using Garmin LiveScope! I hope you enjoy this excellent footage from THREE different camera angles! That’s awesome! Love livescope. I do the same thing during spoonbill season on Truman lake. Always a blast especially bring friends that never caught spoonbill or used live scope. 🙂

Do you have a start and end date for season? We can year round but 2 per year limit in Oklahoma.

Missouri season runs from March 15 to the end of April. We are allowed a bag limit of 2 fish per day per person. Missouri has generous limits!

What rod and reel setups are you using? Would you change anything on the setup?

I don't remember what my friends had, but my rig was a Penn Wrath reel with a medium cabelas rod. I would switch to a lighter rod for a wilder ride!

Boys that does look like alot of fun. you have the exact same boat and motor camo pattern and seat as i do, i even have the live scope.But when i watch this video i cant help but wonder, how much longer before all those fish are GONE. I know its fun, but you got to think about the future. If everyone starts doing this they will be gone in a short amount of time, need to think about it.

These fish are all hatchery fish released in Missouri waters, specifically for anglers to snag. Missouri Department of Conservation releases hundreds of thousands more paddlefish in Missouri waters annually. The population is fine, and really human dependent. Let's let the Missouri Department of Conservation do their job and set the seasons, limits and methods, and we'll continue to follow them 👍

Most of the day, actually. I've had faster trips, blind pulling weight and hook. The video makes it look easy.

The problem I have is not the said snagging. I just spent 10 hours on the water today snagging. The problem I have with it is the lack of give a damn of livescopers . Around Osceola to be specific . I counted 25+ boats today scoping impeding traffic flow making it impossible to do any trolling/dragging in the main channels. Lack of courtesy and common sense will get it banned and quickly.

We eat every bit of it! What you seemingly don't understand is that paddlefish don't have scales, and therefore would be incredibly difficult to mount as a "trophy". By gosh, friend! It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens in the coming years with it. For now, while it's legal, if you don't like it.... just don't do it...
