Ok I was wondering if he was from Maryland new to channel and to snakehead just started fishing for them last summer I live pretty much right on bush river and I certainly haven’t torn them up not sure if do you bow hunters or what but keep hearing how they are invading the water ways, well I have been out 3 times 2 on bush once in gunpowder and yet to catch one , quite a few bass ,sure it’s more me then anything , I know the water has still been in the 50’s hoping things will get better for me even last year I was lucky to catch 1-2 every time out

👍 on the addiction baits bought one of their kits and came with couple weed less in lines and chatter baits now I haven’t caught any snakes on them yet but have caught bass the weedless set up is awsome and am pretty optimistic that gonna land some snakes on them this season being able to throw right into cover with them

I catch a ton of perch white and yellow and crabs and flounder here and pike but I wanna go for a snake head to eat it, I ate one last week was actually flakey and good I was suprised

I'm Asian and mainly snakehead from Asia region. The best bait for big snakehead, live bait. Lure also works, anything that enticing to snakehead, it will chase and gulp it. Softbait, softbody topwater frog with spinner on tail(spoon-scoop-shape spinner) @ hollowbody frog(with spinner, you just slowly reel it in), buzzbait, hardbody jumping frog, spinnerbait. Any lure with wild action, snakehead can't resist it. Your main line safer to use braided line of 20 @ 40 pound, leader of 100 pound, the fish might not able to snap the 20 pound braid, its teeth will grind and cut it, they got really pointy sharp teeth like any carnivore. Any line that won't stretch is the better one for hookset, snakehead mouth is all hard bones. Another NO ONE RULE. Count to 3 and set the hook. 1 2 3(HOOK). Don't instantly hook it up, that is the frequent mistake I've seen most in snakehead fishing video. Nice and great video anyway.
@HooksetTv3 жыл бұрын
I have had braid cut by very small snakeheads...in my experience fluro holds up better to the teeth than braid...thanks for all the info!!
@HooksetTv3 жыл бұрын
I try to always wait to set the hook...but sometimes they will bite feel something is off and spit it out and freak..it's happened many times where the fish will freak out before I set the hook .
@daveyenjan13873 жыл бұрын
@@HooksetTv Been there, 40pound braid snap like nothing, lure and swivel gone just like that. Then I realise the importance of leader line. From then on, I'm using 100pound braid as leader, been pulling quite a fee of 3pounder snakehead, so far so good.
@daveyenjan13873 жыл бұрын
@@HooksetTv Yeap, snakehead always does that. So, my recent method is light tug. Fish gulp, light tug, fish pull back, set the hook.

Typically what line and rod reel combo? I generally use 50 lb pp. Do you use a floro leader?
@HooksetTv3 жыл бұрын
50 lb pp on all topwaters..straight sunline fluro on everything else...I used to use leaders but had issues with leaders shattering on hooksets..especially when I used Invizx..Sunline fixed those problems but sunline is so awesome I just mainline it and it's dope as fuck.

In Summer I always start with topwater and work my way down the water column,,top,moving baits,,bottom /Finnese type baits...but sometimes when it is VERY Hot, they simply wont be actively feeding. I've noticed in late summer heat they will simply lay on the bottom with they're belly's in the mud.

ive recently started snakehead fishing and whenever I get a bite on the ribbit frog I can never get a hook in them for some reason. I wasn't using the hook with two hooks on it, just a normal screwlock swimbait hook but I still. I've had 10+ bites on it and cant get a hookup. I'm going out this evening and i'll leave an edit if i catch one or not. Edit: I forgot to leave an edit but I caught one on the soft plastic frog. I put him on the scale and it weighed 4.21lbs
