You know you're in the southwest when you say things like "whew, it's only 101º today!" 😂

😮 We are in Southern California, one of the less populous inland valleys. RESPECT for our neighbors in AZ, NV, etc., living with the heat.

I have learned so much about snakes thanks to you. I still don't care for snakes, though. A boy threw a snake at me when I was a young girl. That left me traumatized.

I do love toads. That sweet chirrup of protest when Marissa was relocating the 1st toad . . .❤

Crazy there is a permanent water source there. Go, Marissa! We live in an inland valley in Southern Califirnia, one of the less developed areas.. Next door to us is permanent open space, Simi Hills, part of the Santa Monica Mountains. There is a riparian stream there. Back when I was able to hike, I often walked from home into the, "park." All huge boulders, hiking/walking paths, tons of scrub, some trees. Riparian stream often more of a boggy area, the most I've seen are dragonflies. I have never scrambled down through the thick brush to the "stream." I'm guessing that is prohibited. Some young 'uns do explore there. Plenty of good habitat. Have seen rattlesnakes crossing the trail, from 1 side of the brush to the other. I remember a really long snake, from years ago. We stopped far back, while she crossed. ❤

I was out in Cave Creek not too long ago while visiting family in Phoenix. I had a great dinner at a place called Tonto. Good food. I would imagine a canceled call often means a neighbor came over with a shovel and took care of "the problem."... which is sad.

That is cane toads, especially. Maybe some others are less toxic? Great defense for toads, though.

Do you guys clean and or sterilize those buckets between calls? Just asking. I'd hate to see reptiles get a similar issue as what bats are facing.
