Excellent video. Thankyou for making this video. All of your video should be taught in schools as a part of a school program.

Thank you for your kind words. Our school system could be improved in so many ways. Many of the issues we have in respect to rules and ridiculous over regulation in the outdoors is due to a complete lack of relevant education in schools. Our aim is to teach some of these life skills that are not being taught. Thanks for watching.

The first aid part about snakes is so important to know, and there's too much misinformation around. Really great video and demonstration, something we should all be watching before heading out bush

Good video. During our travels in bushland areas if I'm more than a few 100 metres away from my 4WD I carry a small day pack containing basic survival gear including a first aid kit, a snakebite kit and a PLB. I've had to use the first aid kit but luckily never the snakebite kit.

A lot of useful information on this topic. Living in coastal south east Queensland I see plenty of browns and taipans in my area . I always let them be and wait for them to move on if they are in the way.

Great advice. Let them do their snake stuff and move on. Thanks for watching.

I remember rather vividly having a death adder get it's fangs stuck in my boot on the farm when it bit my foot. Let me tell you, trying to shake a snake off your foot as a kid is the stuff of nightmares. Not so scared of snakes nowadays, but death adders have a 'special place' in my heart.

That is very hairy. Those guys don't move and strike extremely fast. They are what I fear most as they don't move out of the way but hey....we can't live our lives in fear of crossing the road in case we get hit by a car which is statistically a much higher chance of happening. We just have to get on with it. Thanks for watching.

Really good information. Marking the bite location & time is a great idea. I'll be adding a permanent marker to my snake bite kits. My tip is for those that already have snake bite kits: Carry it ON you everywhere you go in the bush. Don't just chuck it in the glovebox & leave it there as I have seen so many do. It's no bloody good to you there if you are 200m from it & you don't want to be waiting for somebody to retrieve it or walking to get it yourself. I carry two snake bite kits. One in my main first aid kit in the 4wd & one on my person. I also carry a PLB from GME on my person. Yes they cost around $300 but for most units it's a one off cost that lasts 7 to 10 years so it's actually really cheap insurance if you break it down to a yearly cost.

I couldn't agree more. It needs to be on your person or within very accessible quick reach or there is no point having one. Thanks for watching and your comments.

Thanks for producing these videos Gordon, I heard many years ago that snakes don't like ants and if you spinkle ants nest around a camp the snake won't cross the line .. I was wondering if there is any truth in that theory.

Some great information and very useful but I have to say it was very difficult to hear at times over the wind and cicadas. Especially when doing the first aid section.
@BushcraftSurvivalAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Didn't have the usual kit on me for this one and yes those Cicadas were shocking. Hope you enjoyed the information anyway.

Good video Gordon, but you need to work on the sound quality. It was quite difficult to head in certain segments! Plus you need to stop stirring at the camera to see if it’s still recording! 🙄
@BushcraftSurvivalAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Sound, Light, Composition... always trying to improve. I hope the information out weighs the production quality but you're right the Cicadas and changing light were particularly difficult on this one.
