Ryan Day ALWAYS says the right things. He's great at the podium. He's less great at managing games and preparing his team to win big games. Im at the point where I'm not going to believe or assume anything about this team until Day proves he can do it. A gaudy W/L record against Penn State, Maryland and Purdue isnt good enough at Ohio State when you consistently lose the vast majority of the games that matter.

I noticed the reduced production by the offense since Nebraska. Part is due to the injuries to the Oline. Olines function as a unit and even if the back up is good, it takes time. (Btw, tshabola is not good). The other part is the game plan. I smelled Day’s involvement in the game plan and play calling starting in the Nebraska game. And it’s continued and topped out against scum. He has a real problem trusting his coaches and players and it’s hurting the team. He isn’t progressing as a coach. He’s getting worse. A few years ago, the problem was defense. Now it’s offense, or more specifically, him. If he’d just stay out of it and let Chip do his thing, we’ll be fine.

COACHES are the experienced ones! NOT the players! So your game plan better be in the very least solid. Meaning, why are we running up the middle and ignoring JJ Smith?! But if we throw to Smith and he drops a pass (a mistake) .. well then you can still throw it to him again and again! As opposed to running up the middle again and again .. with the same repeated bad result! So in using your advantages .. JJ Smith, etc .. you might not score 45 and have a great game if he drops a pass .. (or you miss two FGs) .. but we still could have scored 24 or so .. with ANY sort of decent plan .. and WON the game! DO NOT lay this at the feet of the players .. when the head coach was so much more egregiously bad!

I’m ok if we lose a 3rd game if we attack how we’re supposed to….. I’m not ok losing a 3rd game with Howard because he doesn’t have the skill set necessary (even though he finds a target every once in a while like a blind squirrel finds a nut) => but we need to play who gives us the best chance to win……
