I found that not only did the drawers bind but that they squeaked too!! Drove me insane! I ended up pulling drawers all the way out and noticed that the bearing slides that "clip" on to the box were very sloppy. I pulled them out and peened the 3 tabs to close and effectively tighten their fit to the box when they're clipped in. Squeaks are gone and doesn't really bind anymore although the drawers still "flop" around. Snap On really dropped the ball BAD on the Epiq build. I completely agree with every one of your complaints! Wake up Snap On!!

I just bought a 72” snap on classic and I agree for all the money we pay for Snap-on tool boxes soft close should be included and there’s a lot of other design flaws that are disappointing when your talking about a company that claims to be the best and sells these things for so high

Christian Beyer that’s a huge pain. Especially when bays are typically small once you get a machine in to them. I love my packed full cart for mobility. I have the master series cart. just to keep it smaller to sneak around. Almost went with the epiq cart but didn’t want to deal with the size getting around tracks and the blade. I just filled it with my most common used stuff.

I'm blown away that a box like this doesn't have soft close drawers and shocks in the locker. It cost as much as a car. It should have every bell and whistle possible Is! Is there a specific reason there's no soft close? And if your worried about scratches get clear vinyl like is used on matte car paint to protect from chips and scratches. Very through review and very well done!!
@kwmiked
@kwmiked 2 жыл бұрын
They don't have soft close cause of the latch system on each side. If u let it close to slow then they don't latch and u have a unlocked draw that could possibly slide opened and have a catastrophic tip over

Cornwell platinum series has the strongest sliders out. They’re decent looking and offer tons of colors, but no where as pretty as matco or snap on. I like the matco and snap on hutch’s and lockers way more. The cornwell boxes have a similar drawer opener which I like way more then any other box, and there drawer liners are next to none. It’s funny that husky and Milwaukee are some of the only boxes that offer soft close and are 1000 times cheaper.

Unfortunately that faded color will always appear with a flat color.... there's nothing in the chemical makeup in the coating that will change that. Clear coats are a protectant. Those clear plastic/ rubber wrap material to protect cars from rock chips and bugs are a good way to protect it. If ya want the flat color however, it would change that. No way around that unfortunately

Drawer bind? Really? Just curious have you ever lubed them? I'll dab my sliders with my air tool bottle maybe once a year, never had a problem. Even with my heaviest top drawer and my box(KRL1023) is 12yrs old. But I have seen other people have that issue especially with the Snap-On KRSC carts. But it stopped with a little dab of oil with a wipe down of the roller guide before the dab. Your other issues with the locker drawer not having a detent and the finish scratches or chipping I agree with you 100%. Even rust on some boxes. Luckily for me my box is a warranty replacement for a KRL1003 that sagged on the left side bank below the top drawer. One of the first Black boxes I ever seen back then(1997) in my area. Bought it new. It was 12yrs old when it was replaced(2009) so I can't complain although I didn't like the second long drawer and the shorter bottom left drawer but I got used to it. As far as the scratch thing I just used a chunk of carnuba wax and rub it in real hard on the scratch and wipe it off to make it less visible. I think their prices are way too high now for a box but I do want two side lockers to finish it off.

whats the big difference between master and epiq tool boxes

Size primarly. The Master Series comes at least to my knowledge, 54" and 72" on which you can put an "Hood" on. The Epic Series has 60", 68", 84", 120" and 144" wide Models. Why, do you consider the purchase of one?

I like the Epiq draw pulls over the standard straight squared off draws. The masters look like every other tool brand box. If u like that squared off look then I'd just get a 72in Extreme Tools tool box, half the money for the samething if not better. Epiq has the nice pull up draw handle with hooks on each side to latch it. But they slam easy once weight is in them
