The tech/dealer relationship is bigger than anything. I’m to the point now where I can run up my account to 2/3k and only pay 50 a week. But I understand how it hurts my dealer and I don’t want to treat him that way. Also, he understands if I need to miss a payment a week and allows me to skip a week if needed. He’s very flexible and I appreciate that! Very happy with my dealer

I’m a lube tech but working my way up. I was doing A LOT of tire jobs and rotates. Snap on guy came by and I went on that truck with $0 down he gave me a torque wrench on a truck account. I didn’t bring a card that day because I kept telling myself I wasn’t going to go there cause I couldn’t afford it. I was planning on getting a gear wrench torque wrench but they haven’t been available for awhile now. Moral of the story, treat your tool dealers right because when you need something bad, they might help you out even if it’s a bit of a risk for them. For all he knew, I’d have got that wrench and fled the country, him being out $600. Thanks Ricky and his boy Cody. Good dealers so far and hopefully for a long time.

You guys are really lucky to have a Snap on Rep you can trust and deal with! Back in 1977 I purchased a New Snap on upper and lower box from our Snap on Rep. I been retired after 30 years in the field. Since retired I still do a lot of my own repairs and I'm 72 now. It's really difficult trying to run down a local Snap on rep willing to stop and sell tools. I have to end up shopping for Kobalt or husky hand tools. I still have all my Snap on tools but due new automotive components electrical test equipment is hard to find. I enjoy watching you! John

You hit the nail on the head when you said "You need to take of your dealer, and he'll take care of you." This has just become a reality to me as of lately. My Snap-On guy is hooking me up big time warranty wise on a USED box I got off of Facebook. Why is he doing that? Cause I don't jerk him around, low ball, or leave him hanging. I meet him on time, pay up front and once in awhile bargain with him. We've established a great friendship.I would never receive that at Harbor Freight or Home Depot or even my local NAPA. Paying a little extra pays off in the long run. You buy cheap, you buy twice.

Long time mechanic here that has had plenty of tool dealers, Hamilton gets it! The guys that start a route and run in and out of shops not building relationships never last. On the flip side of that I've seen guys take total advantage of tool dealers too. For the young guys that watch these videos and read comments remember this. Always pay the tool guy! If your going on vacation schedule him to get paid. You call in sick the day the truck is suppouse to be there text them and set up the payment. Off on quarantine get the guy paid! They will remember it and take care of you in the future. Great videos, keep it up

I moved to an office where the snap on guy shows up last summer but I’ve behaved and stayed off. My brother in law got a new job as an ag mechanic a couple months back so we decided to get him a snap on gift card. Well I couldn’t walk off that truck without getting something so I got a gift card and a new 3/8 locking flex ratchet. I traded in an old 36 tooth fixed head for it and I can’t believe how much smoother the new one is.

Love the videos Clay. Hamilton you’re awesome. You remind me off my old SO Dealer, Joe. He retired, then some pushy SOB showed up. Was never the same. Relationships are everything. We all take care of each other. Y’all be safe and take care.

I had the best snap on dealer ever. I’d pay more on my RA and if I had a rough week because I’d always paid more he’d let me slide every now and then if it was a rough week. Plus because I always was paying my account off he gave me crazy deals!!! Like harbor freight prices for Snap on. It’s always about taking care of each other. Never screw over your dealer and they will ALWAYS take care of you!

what other people think about your tools, if you like them and they do the job that is your business. A good deal does not always have to be about price, as long as you and the truck man both leave happy thats all that matters.

No joke my boss wouldn’t let any tool trucks park on his property but the snap on guy. When I started there as an apprentice, he said it was to teach me the difference lol. Matco, gear wrench all out in the road outside the parking lot but snap on would drive in practically in to the shop 😂! We could spend 30 minutes in there if we wanted to as long as we bought something

I knew my snapon dealer from another shop I shortly worked at. I was gonna go to get a set of bluepoint metric wrenches for $266 for $25 a week. Of course my service manager (and my mentor) didn't want me to go with snapon, but with our cornwell dealer. Cornwell was having a monthly deal of a 19 piece metric wrench set with a 12 piece sae set and a work light. The sae and work light being a bonus at the price of the metric set. $30 a week. My Cornwell dealer's rates were $20 a week for a $100 item and $30 a week for $200&up. Well my snapon dealer over shot his chance when he offered me a shit ton of bluepoint tools (with a rolling tool cart) for $25 a week. Of course when I did the math that would have taken me 3 years to pay off. So I ended up with buying tools off my cornwell guy. With him he has a set limit for me at $500 and will not let me buy what I cannot afford from him. Simply put I just wanted a set of wrenches. Cornwell guy sold me wrenches. Snapon guy try to sell me more than I really needed at the moment. But do not get me wrong there will be a point where I will get a few things from him.

Paying cash is a discount. Since each time you board the truck you’ll probably buy something else. It might keep you off it, lol.

My snap on tool dealer is awesome!!! Like you ! Gives me good deals! I owe almost 2k on the truck. 50 a week hes ok with. Been doing business with my snap on tool guy for 12 years. 2,400 is not a big amount a year. But he takes care of my tool needs/wants. Not one question on anything that needs warranty.

So I just bought a 3/8 chrome and impact socket set deep and shallow, metric and sae, with extensions and a ratchet. Complete set from our new snap on guy. He said it was “brand new on the truck just came out 50% off.” But. He wants it paid in 10 weeks at $150 a week which is steep for me. I haven’t touched it since I bought it Friday of 12/22/23. My cornwell guy comes Wednesday, matco Thursday, and snap on Friday. If I can find a similar set on either truck that’ll do better payments. If I can find one. I’m going to return the set in the same brand new condition it’s in. Sucks because I really love the set but that’s just too steep for me payment wise

My snap on guy hates me after he found out i was not a shop mechanic. I never led him to believe i was. I grew up turning wrenches and know what i need. I used to work in a shop but not certified mechanic. I know all snap on businesses dont think like that. I wish your guy was here locally. I like and feel i can trust him.

When you say cash is king you ain’t lying. I bought a used 54’ wide tool box that my snap on dealer was selling for $1,800. I told him look I can’t give you that but how does $700 cash sound? He said show me the money and it’s yours. He already had his hand on the button to open the back door and I showed him the cash and... well I think you know where this is going lol I took that tool box.

I usually tried paying cash as knew got 20 - 25% off used truck account for when had a good sale that was above my allowance that week than I paid off truck account before bought something else. That always gave me bargaining chip. The biggest thing for me is the guy driving that truck owns it and tools on it which is true small business and I'd rather give my money to a small business than a huge corporation
