Spent 2 months free mounting but with a half backward rev before going forwards. Your video showed me how to go straight into it going forward. It was a hard habit to break but after a few days practise can now do it solid. Strangely, I found it easier learning without the curb to help and just going for it. Incredibly frustrating at first but well worth the end result. Ta very much for the video- good stuff!

I was really nervous at first but keep doing it instead of holding on to something and you'll be good in no time.

It’s fun to watch Ed Pratt mounting his fully loaded round the world 36... :) Good tips! Thx.

I just got a 29 inch after having spent years on a 24. That extra bit you have to jump up makes a difference!

I have you tried a 36inch since your last comment here... Man nothing like mounting that and taking off.

Wow. Just bought a SUN 26 to learn on and start this one day. I saw seths bike hacks trying it and was inspired to try. Looks like fun ...and also entirely ridiculous. At 43, why not. I almost got a 36, simply cause the guy said it feels like flying. Even to have it under me feels weird. I also appreciate your vid. I am afraid to post anything with me in it, and you remind me its ok to just have fun and be yourself. Thanks for that... from shitty ol PA, USA... a new subscriber is yours.

Only discovered your videos today. After watching the first one I subscribed and the more I watch the better they get. Laughing my socks off at this one😂😂 Where I live I don't know any other uni riders so I'm strictly a lone rider. One advantage I do have is a disused quarry where I can ride off road. Keep the videos coming, loving them.

Thanks for that. I will be sure to keep making the video's. You could always teach a friend how to ride. Could be easier than finding a local rider 🤘🏻

Author, I welcome you! I am interested in how difficult it is in your country to practice this sport if others consider you strange, seeing you on the same wheel. I write from Russia and for me this is an actual moment, so I often ride in deserted places.

Tell me, please: at 7:46, your wheel drove forward a little before the moment of jumping with the second leg. Is it important or an accident?

Thanks very much for the info.Very useful to do the three different sizes one after each other. To now the extra jump needed to mount. Our of interest how long did it take you to learn to freemount?

Excellent video dude! I have a 20" uni and i want to buy a 26" or bigger.Is the 26" uni demand more effort for a long distance than a 20''? ( I mean if the 26" is more smooth on pedals and requires less force than the 20") ..
@UniMart_Martin

The bigger the wheel the higher gear it is so the faster you go. I went from a 20 to a 36er for doing long distance.

Hi, thanks for upload. Can you tell me the advantages of a unicycle over a bicycle ? Looks like a lot of fun and I like the simplicity of it. Thanks

Been trying to do this on my 29er today but just can’t help putting weight through my left leg, it’s driving me mad!
@UniMart_Martin
@UniMart_Martin 6 жыл бұрын
Dean Williams shouldn't matter too much on a 29 unless you put a lot of weight on it. Try just jumping over it from the curb like in the video. Hope it helps.

Hey, on your 26er and 36er you have a brake. Do you use it much? Uf so how do you use it. This might sound a bit daft asking but, the brakes seems really keen to stop you rather than just slowing you down. Cheers
@UniMart_Martin
@UniMart_Martin 6 жыл бұрын
Kaz Parkin you use a brake on a unicycle to even a hill out so you pedel against the brake to help ballance and stop the wheel speeding up too much on steep hills

Good video. How does tire pressure factor in to mounting and comfortable riding? Any typical rule of thumb for the ideal tire pressure? Please advise. Thank you!
@UniMart_Martin
@UniMart_Martin 4 жыл бұрын
The harder the tyre the less resistance there is on flat ground. When learning to freemount I'd go for more air to make it easier. 👍🏻
@flhandster4395

UniMart Thanks for your reply. Well it just seems that a harder tire would make it a little more difficult for the tire to hug the ground while mounting. Am I missing something? Please help. 😎👍🏼
@UniMart_Martin
@UniMart_Martin 4 жыл бұрын
When you get on both pedals and start to lean forwards you need the tyre to move with as little resistance as possible until you get used to it.

i mount differently. i just stiff my one leg on one pedal while its tilting to the side straight with my leg and i jump with my other leg straight on to the other pedal and just start moving forward.

If you are just "learning", then lesson #1. Remove those spikes from those pedals. Keep on.
