I could only figure the Sigma because it constantly seemed to be a tad out of focus :D I'm happy that the picture I preferred was the Olympus, as I literally bought one online yesterday! I like the Pentax too but definitely a different color science. I'm thinking that would be better for street and especially landscape while the Olympus is more pleasing for portraits. I might pick up one of those as well.

I correctly guessed the pentax both times, but i don't think that's hard, the Pentax to me has this buttery smooth ramp down in to shadow. it's tough to describe. But the rendering of the lower end on the pentax k10 has always dazzled me.

The Fuji S5 Pro has legendary status among us portrait and wedding shooters. Ive used a TON of cameras and it has the best skin tones Ive ever seen. Mostly due to the excellent SuperCCD sensor in it. Mine finally died last year and I havent replaced it but I really should. Between these cameras, I actually preferred the Pentx but I would have much rather seen SOOC images. Once you start tweaking the colors in post, they are to YOUR liking and not what the camera produced. Good video though.

Well done! All three setups are interesting for different reasons. I do really enjoy your channel content. It's nice to see these kinds of comparisons. Not many channels do this kinda thing (or it isn't done as well). It's easy to find content on the latest-and-greatest but that doesn't reflect everyone's interest or reality. My guesses: @6:52 - (1) Sigma. Something about the skin color (warm) and reflections (cold) make the colors look a bit "off"? I dunno, I'm no expert. - (2) Olympus: Noticeably soft. - (3) Pentax: looks natural, sharp (in a good way) and my favorite of the three They are all great images so to me it's splitting hairs. This is a good showcase of what can be achieved with older gear.

Love seeing the E-300 again! I recently got one for $85 in mint condition with 1,244 shutter actuations and I love it to death. The fact that I got it for $85 with 2 kit lenses is insane and I’m glad that One month Two cameras video sold me on it. The CCD sensor is what I hoped it would be and I couldn’t be happier. Hope to see more videos on and and I’ve already been recommended the 25mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/2 Olympus lenses. I’ll have to look into them more for sure but it’s nice to see you using that 50mm. I preferred the colours of: 3 > 1 > 2 for the first set, then 2 > 1 > 3 for the second. In the first set Photo #2 looked a little washed out. These three are all cameras I’ve been looking at while in the CCD obsession. I tried a Pentax K200D and I just couldn’t gel with it. It has a cracked back screen which doesn’t affect anything and doesn’t bother me, but I don’t know it didn’t feel right. The Oly E-500 I then bought was instant love! One of the Sigmas is on my to-buy list now, but which one depends on a few factors

2 things that CCD need to offer perfect portraits are : Good and even lighting on the subject to keep the iso lower than 400 ideally(background doesn’t matter) And don’t underexpose the shot by more than 0.3 stop, it’s better to overexpose by 0.3 stop to avoid mushy shadows If the weather is a bit overcast with clouds, results will be great with ccd cameras. If the contrast is high, use the pop up flash with a diffuser or a reflector. For landscapes, just expose well or bracket 2 raw stops and blend them after

I was able to find mine used. They are tricky to come by for these older models, and the only place I've seen where they are consistently in stock is focusingscreen.com. I have not purchased there before though, so can't vouch for them. The actual replacement is really simple. If you take off your lens and flip the camera upside down, you'll see the focusing screen above the mirror (or below, I guess, if you've flipped it upside down). There's a metal tab in the center on the outside edge that you flip, and this releases the black metal tray that is keeping it in. Take out the old, pop in the new, and push the metal tray back until that clip snaps into place again. Hope that's making sense. :D

If you have front focussing, reduce the value, If you have back focusing increase the value. After adjusting the value press ok and quit out of setup menu 6 test for focus and adjust reajust from the step 4 if you need to 7 go to service menu make debug mode to debug mode then press ok It is for general adjustment so memorize if you change lenses often, hope it helps! After you corrected them, the results were pretty nice, maybe a bit magenta shifted (previous caveat applies). With my patience levels, I think I'd be converting everything to monochrome! That Oly 50mm f/2 macro looks like a peach of a lens, not only in this vid but also based on reviews and images samples I've seen. How does it handle? Is been on my radar since getting into MFT in 2020, but the adapter is kind of pricy. I didn't really think about just getting an old four-thirds body to use it natively (I can be hard on thinking sometimes!). I thought it would be a bit clinical for portraits and that the 77mm would be a clear winner, but it did a really good job. Last but not least, your wife did a great job in front of the camera - she's a natural.

Is it true that DSLR systems don’t match mirrorless systems in terms of lens sharpness and AF speed / accuracy? I member switching from Nikon d80 to Fujifilm XF and was really impressed with the high ISO and general image quality improvement, but that would have been a lens improvement as well rather than strictly only sensor
@StrangelyIronic Жыл бұрын
Olympus really held its own, Olympus really tried (I guess you could say tries, but honestly I think the OM-System glass we're getting now is just the last of Olympus R&D) to match (Micro) Four Thirds with some amazing glass that helped it compete and render as much as possible without being clinical if that makes sense. I'm still an MFT user, and probably will keep being one until the lenses that I can't replace on other systems (either at all or due to prices) can't be found for decent prices down the line. I did have a K-1.II, but I sold it because I never used it for work over my KP, and selling the K-1.II gave me a couple lenses I'd rather have than a dust collecting body. Colors wise I like Olympus and Pentax pretty much even. I've never particularly liked foveon output, to be honest. I've seen blind tests with Olympus SOC vs Sigma in the past, and there wasn't enough to make me want to use Sigma's processing solution again. I actually do love the fp and fp L, despite their flaws; one reason being it's not foveon. I'd love an sd-quattro shell with a faster readout aps-c sensor + ibis package, e-shutter only is fine for me, and with the required longer flange hacked off in favor of L-mount.

Nice video! Any camera since 2004 on is more than good enough but new tech is always fun. I shot several commissions with the Olympus E1 and E300, mainly magazine covers and advertising work. Both are fine cameras but I never enjoyed the E300 like I did the E1. Sadly, as Olympus stopped supporting pros I moved onto other DSLRs but I did enjoy the color of the Olympus cameras and the build of the E1 (which always broke lol)

I wonder if old waterproof ccd cameras last longer since the sensor doesn't get affected by moisture. If anyone knows a good one for me to try out, let me know :)

It’s not so simple! At first, Best color from Pef you can give only in Silkypix Developer studio or Pentax Digital Camera Utility. At second, I think, you should to use one lens for all of cameras, it had a good idea. At third.. only Flash, something from Godox, maybe ad600. Sorry for my language, I try:)
@snappiness2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a test of just the sensor performance would work better using the same M42 lenses. I used lightroom for all the cameras to keep that part even. I'll have to play with using Silkypix for the Pentax. I did once a long time ago and did not like it, but maybe it is best? :) Thanks for watching.

The Sigma produces very strange photos. They look like the model (your wife) has been cut and pasted onto the background. I really like Pentax DSLRs, generally, and Pentax lenses are also pretty good. I'd take the Pentax first, Olympus 2nd and I wouldn't touch the Sigma with a barge pole.

Oh...and whats up with those K10ds...are there any that don't back focus? (I've read there is still a way for focus adjustment even though it's not offered as an in-camera menu option.
@snappiness2 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting, I'll have to dig into that. Like when you enable debug mode or something? It seems to do fine with my other lenses, so I think it may just be the lens. I had to do adjustments for it on my K-1 too. I'd return the lens, but I got it for $200 so that seems more than fair for now.

@@snappiness yes, something like this as far as I remember. And you have to have the firmware updated to 1.10 at least....I think. But everything I read about seemed too confusing for my understanding about stuff like that. I own 2 bodies and both back focus severely, kinda frustrating considering you cannot use liveview as a focusing aid as well. Should you find a way, a video would be kinda cool... 😎😎😎😁
