And once they come back from that Education. Get sent to join the Varangian Guard. 🤙🏿🍻 Recognition of Talent gets a Prestige boost if you have 10 prisoners with 12 prowess btw 🤙🏿🍻 There will be plenty of time to Hybridize Cultures and pickup both Eastern and Western Roman Heritages 🤙🏿🍻

Yeah not sure why he's whinging about this...more difficult gameplay often means more interesting, and more interesting gameplay means more interesting content for us to view. He literally "wins" more from having issues then by using perfect exploits to steamroll enemies every single video

Some values seem to be bugged since the new update,for exemple I had a ruler who ruled 3 dejure kingdoms and only had 270 levies,that issue got resolved after that ruler died

Converting to Hellenic early did actually make the game incredibly difficult especially if you start in 1066 start where the crusades are about to start. Though it'd take the Catholics a few years before they can have another crusade while now with the current culture you have you can declare holy war for kingdom anytime you want. You'd realise that if you play your cards right, you'd only lose one out of many kingdoms that you have so it's a no lost really LOL.

19:35 in a defensive war, you can always get 100 warscore from battles... So you've never seen that before because anyone declared war on you, but in this game you were so weak........

19:30 war score is only battle capped for offensive wars. Since you are the defender you can just battle them down.

Love the vid and the content! The struggle in this one was real! Not sure if anyone else has said but on a defensive war you have the ability to have battles cap at 100% while in attacking wars they only go to 50%

in a regular war, you're expected to survive your foe and retain your lands, so everything's capped at 50, but in a holy war, you're expected to show the prowess of your faith, so everything's capped at 100, and it allows you to win via prowess in battle alone.

@@SnapStrategynah that guys wrong, if you’re defending in a war it’s capped at 100 because it would be silly to expect you, as the defender, to go siege your attackers land in order to win. Instead if your on the offense it’s capped at 50

Maybe click on more than just the tournament grounds if you want to get events to qualify for a contest in a tournament. You can do 4 events before the first contest and 3 before every other one.

The prestige raising happened to me when I was attempting to do the County of Fika achievement. I think that as your domain grows, it becomes more expensive to diverge culture / reform faith. What I ended up doing was declaring wars on counties for prestige which caused me to need more prestige to reform my culture. What I ended up doing was granting all of the counties away which lowered the prestige cost, and then I just reconquered them all after I diverged.

the biggest mistake you made was not consolidating the British Isles first. If you had done that and then decided to convert to the Hellenic faith you would've stood a better chance against the crusade,

If you want a really difficult challange, try starting as the duke of ghur in 865 and then form bactria, end the persian struggle to form persian empire and then also unite all of india, currently trying it but can't get past the formation of persia.

If you were still wondering why the war score for battles didn't cap at 50%, its because as the defender it doesn't have a cap when defeating enemy armies (to my understanding). Love your videos and keep up the great work.

I managed to this with a custom hellenic character in Norway, hybridize with norse, conquer most of scandinavia without making a kingdom, then varangian to Sardinia, conquer and form the Baleo-Thyrrenian kingdom, then take Rome. Crusades are a pain, so once you take Rome, rush the rest of Italy to dismantle the papacy.

The "Kingdom Invasion" casus belli will seize the targeted title and any counties completely under occupation. If you don't siege the war target, the defenders can gain war score for holding it, allowing you to occupy and subsequently take direct control of every county of an empire in a single war.

Sardinian culture actually has the direct Roman heritage. So he could just convert culture like he did to Norse for a previous character.

You only need Latin heritage if you only hold the HRE, if you hold the Byzantine Empire its enough to either be catholic, hellenic or be of the actual roman culture, which you cant get without making a custom character.

I’ve been having the same glitch involving the court chaplain. The only way I got it to work is assigning one, and when they disappear inviting them back to my court and reassigning them and then they finally stay. Hope this helps!

idk if anyone else said this, but war score only caps at 50% for offensive war. And the war against you was defensive so the war score from battles has no cap. Makes it much easier to defend

Your levies are reinforcing that why you are losing money ,you may stop reinforcement to stop going in debt, also when you are at war levies are raised you can set your martial to manage levies , it brings downs the expenses of all men at arms by almost 50 percent.

I'm 1 for 1 on winning holy wars for england, 2 for 3 for holy wars in spain, 4 for 4 for holy wars in syria or Jerusalem. Then 2 for 2 for a holy war when I held rome. So much fun defending holy wars, but each time I also had a holy order and tons of kids for allies. I also got the papal crown 3 times as a Muslim ruler.

I found the crusade if England easy because I was picking off people as they landed. Though mine was earlier in the game so nations had smaller armies.

Fun run. As it wasn't mine. I would've loaded saves, personally. I don't have the stomach for ironman playthroughs. My own Roman Empire run started Desmond, Ireland. The Norse being in Dublin made getting the culture easier. Building up there for a generation and then getting the kingdom made it easier for when I invaded England and Scotland. By the time they pope called the Crusades on me after getting Canterbury, I already had taken Frisia and Flanders. The Crusaders seized Frisia from me but I kept all of Britannia.

For the German Crusade it's because he had a claim on England. The Pope chose him as beneficiary basically. Honestly just terrible luck. Usually as a pagan king of England you are safe if you don't take Canterbury, but since he had the claim he was the choice

This is how I felt playing Yorvik. Every time you go to war with a Catholic ruler, they get a holy order. Ended up forming a new kingdom with all of England, Scotland, and Wales, and had to reconquer Scandinavia because all the Norse kingdoms went Catholic. Got hit with two crusades for my kingdom, beat them both, and formed an Empire with Britannia and Scandinavia. At this point I'm trying to set up Norse kingdoms all over the place just so I can get some allies.

The pope has an increased chance to choose any kingdom that has a holy site for crusades. This is why when I reform asatru I tend to avoid owning more than a single English province until I am ready to mass conquer Italy to dismantle the Papacy. He can't crusade England if it is held by a catholic. Jerusalem is still his main choice, though, so you definitely got unlucky.
