These little gems are as cool as it gets! Used them on 1/2" drywall, with insulation behind where my curtain hanger pulled out, leaving a 1/2" hole in the wall. I needed the hanger to exactly where it was, and used the snap toggles, and was quick and rock solid when done. Thanks for a great invention!

I used these recently and in my opinion they were perfect for mounting a TV on metal studs. I thought the plastic part was what was holding the TV but once I used them I understood the plastic just facilitates getting the anchor into the stud and holding it in place until the screw is in. It's actually a very secure system and I will use it again.

Thank you for this and several of your other vids on similar items to attach something to drywall. After looking at all of them, I have decided to go with the hollow wall anchors since I don't have a drill and frankly I don't have anything that incredibly heavy to hold. I am a 47yo divorced mom who usually can pay for experts like you to do this type of work, but after being laid off as a defense contractor, I am doing these tasks myself now. I feel very confident I can do it, thanks to you! I like how you were straightforward and to the point and your video didn't waste my time at all.

The old TV hanging question. If your wall is plasterboard and you can't get to the studs for whatever reason, does the fixing you choose matter or should you just bite the bullet, cut through the plasterboard and fix to the wall behind (or maybe add a noggin)? I've been fighting with wall anchors for half a day and they keep popping out. I think they can't be used when there is a gap between the anchor and the final surface.
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 9 жыл бұрын
Some plasterboard anchors are not very good I'm afraid. Snaptoggles are one of the best and will enable most items to be hung successfully on plasterboard. If you can find a stud or noggin, better still. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fma4YaaCgN59gNk
@MarioMin
@MarioMin 9 жыл бұрын
That's the problem. I couldn't find a stud or noggin, looks like that board was blobbed onto the outer wall, so I drilled into the outer wall and tried to use proper wall anchors and not hollow wall anchors.

I know you have answered millions of questions like this but here is my question. So I want to hang my tv on the wall with this snaptoggles. The TV weights a maximum of 60 pounds will 4 of them work?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 8 жыл бұрын
+kelvin ocasio There are a few variables and there is no definitive answer without seeing it, because some TV brackets extend from the wall- increasing the load on the fixings. But if it's flush to the wall or only extends a few inches then 4 snap toggles should easily hold it. It's best if you can space them out as far as possible though, by using the 4 corners of the fixing bracket as you do not want all 4 fixings grouped together.

Great video, I’ve watched a few of your wall fixing videos trying to decide how to hang a really heavy teddy holder (from ikea) in the corner of a bedroom where there is no wooden joist to hang it from. The hook they have provided has a circular base with four holes (ikea item EKORRE) - would these snap toggles be suitable for attaching this to a plasterboard ceiling?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 5 жыл бұрын
Fixing to a plasterboard ceiling is difficult, if you can't fix to the joists because the pull out force is much different than if the fixing was used in the wall. The item you have linked to looks like it is designed to be screwed to the joists, can you not get access to the loft above the bedroom ceiling and perhaps fix a piece of timber to spread the load over a larger area?

I put a few of these in for a bathroom sink cabinet and it seems to be holding well, however I didnt account for the sink overhang and should move the cabinet over a couple inches - is the wall no longer going to be secure if there are toggle holes only a couple inches away from the new holes? or should I just leave it and make do with the overhang being slightly off on each side for wall integrity?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 9 жыл бұрын
+Brian Galdis It depends on the weight of the cabinet. As you point out the plasterboard will be weakened where the snap toggles are. The snap toggles can hold a lot of weight though, so providing the cabinet is not too heavy it should be fine.Thanks for the comment

A combination of studs/ a stud and snap toggles will give you the best fixing possible on plasterboard.

Ah many thanks. They did use them to wall mount a TV, it was up for about a month before it just fell down. Possibly over tightened. I've got some Ikea floating shelves I need to put up into plasterboard but have been putting it off. I believe the studs are metal which I found out while trying to put one of those drywall screw plug fixings into the wall for a notice board. The issue is that the studs are further apart than the holes in the bracket. Would you say to make new holes in the bracket, or should it be ok to use some sort of dry wall fixings like in this video?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 6 жыл бұрын
It depends what weight you intend to put on the shelf after installation. For light items you could use spring toggles, but for heavy items it is best to find the studs and fix into those to be on the safe side, even if that means drilling some more holes in the bracket. Thanks for the comment

@alcameron6071
@alcameron6071 5 жыл бұрын
Meester Chris I have been using regular toggle bolts for years. Instead of that one piece that pivots, there are two wings that fold into each other. After you drill the hole in the wall, do you pinch these two wings together and push it through the hole with the help of the bolts. After you push it in, you can feel the two wings flip open and then you tighten up the bolts. One word of caution, before you push the wings through the wall, make sure you have whatever you’re going to fastened to the wall already onto the screw and through the wings. Then simply push it through the wall till they open, pull it back with slight pressure and tighten up the screws. You’re done. For your information they sell them in three different weights. Lightweight, medium weight, and heavy weight. It all depends what you’re hanging and how heavy they are. Look at the weight rating on the package.
