Both amazing, but I gotta go with the Terminator by a slim margin. My favorite ever is the 1989 N&C Zildjian snare, I believe it was 3mm at first then later 5mm and shallower depth.

I guess both are mainly build to be collector's items but I don't really hear a sound that justifies their price tags... There are a lot of (way) cheaper snare drums that look great and can sound awesome.

I was hoping Shane from DCP would do this video.

ZILDJIAN snare has 5mm shell, that's why its heavier 😉

Ahhh. That explains it. Not sure where I got 3MM from, but thanks for the info.

Another factor is that the Zildjian uses machined 304 stainless components whereas things like the lugs on the Tama are stamped, a lot less weight there.

I wish I could afford either one of these drums the tama costs $6999 aud and I’m not sure about the Zildjian very expensive in Australia

Buy a Bronze shell from Guven metal in turkey and build one.

The three factors of why the Zildjian is heavier is, one; it is a 5mm shell not a 3mm. Two; it is a sand-cast shell, which leaves a lot of the heavier shell imperfections in it. Three, it is made from their B20 Bronze, which it much heavier then the B14/16 that Tama uses. Great video, but I would disagree with Zildjian holding its value more than the Tama. That’s just my opinion.

It must be the perspective of the camera lens, - they look like huge 8" drums!

5mm shell for the Zildjian, that’s why the weight is that different !

Id go with the Z if i only could get one.

Unfortunately the sound is too poor to tell the difference 😔. Shame.

are you listening on speakers or earbuds? just curious.

@@thecastle6224 speakers dude. Sounds like the gain may have been a little high on the microphone 👍🏻
@drumthink98558 ай бұрын
There is zero gain on either mic. I'm going to try and turn down the volume a bit as I had it set for two wood drums before this video was made.

Not that I have refined ear for snares, but this sounds like a waist of 10k to me. But they are beautiful pieces.

" waist " is around your middle, where you might wear your pants. "Waste" is perhaps the word you were intending.

Not impressed with either one of these drums even if they were less than half. I'll take a Noble & Cooley Alloy Classic any day over either of these snares.

He doesn't know how to tune.

i've never heard PSI used as a unit of head measument either. He's really managed to make the TAMA sound like a $50 turd.

Or play. Never even hit one rimshot or played more than mezzo piano while playing 6th grade combo band beat. Definitely not what these drums will be used for by almost everyone who buys them
