This is the info/video I have been looking for. I’m in Black Hawk County Iowa and am trying my hand at snare trapping coyote and beaver. I bought 6- 3/32 pre made snares from Funke and also got some 1x19 cable to rebuild after catches. Had a beaver that I caught wreck a snare after catch and my rebuild wasn’t nearly as smooth. Gonna try your method and see if it helps. Not a lot of good camlock vids that I could find, as usual, yours will likely make my life easier and help my success rate. Thanks for all you do.

Snares are the monkey on my back. Have used few times but like normal nothing. So just don't use to many at all cause don't have any confidence in them. I'm just going to have to buckle down and get get it figured out. I know it's costing me for pelts in truck. I'll cont. to watch sharing videos including yours Dale. I like your NO-BULL approach to teaching you implement. Your a wealth of knowledge about trapping thats for sure and the willingness to put it out is commendable. Thank You

@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 I've been watching all hour videos Dale and especially the snare teachings. I seen quite a few of them on different Authors but there's the no confidence stuck in my craw and I just seem to do everything right,but nothing. I set 3 out last spring on Beaver and after wks I just pulled them.

Great video Dale. I'm required to run breakaways, when do those come in?
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 жыл бұрын
Break aways are connected by the lock to the cable Glen by either an S or J hook style commercial break away. I have to run a deer stop on the cable here so the lock cannot go any smaller than a 2 1/2 inch loop. Wish they'd leave up to us whether we want to use them or a break away.
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 жыл бұрын
The break aways job Glen is that when a nontarget species like a deer or elk is caught accidentally, when enough pressure is applied it pops loose so the loop opens and the deer or elk is released unharmed. Hope this helps you some
@alleycat5052 жыл бұрын
So the breakaway is another part to buy/install? Or is it just a lock designed to break?
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 жыл бұрын
Another part to buy unfortunately

Dale, If I am trying for entanglement and to dispatch the coyote, am I better off with no swivel? Thank you, Bill Hann
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 ай бұрын
That's a tough call Bill. I personally want a swivel in mine because I run 2 different size cables. The reason I do that is because of the chew resistance of the 1x19 vs the 7x7

Good stuff👍 question, have u ever had to change the springs on any of your #11's? I got some #1 lonsprings that are pretty weak and didn't know if u had any tips or tricks for changing them out. Appreciate it
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 жыл бұрын
I just use a big flat screw driver to pop the jaws out. Change the springs . When you go to put the jaws back in i always put the dog jaw in 1st. Then set the trap and put the off jaw in. Its works easier for me that way. Hope that helps you. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it

Have you had many chew outs on coyotes with the 5/64th cable? or does the swivel prevent the the dogs from chewing?
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu15312 жыл бұрын
I have about 2 a year. And its usually something goofy happens. Like not wrapping up like they should or something of that sort. I like to tangle them when 8 can. Dead coyotes don't chew
@chaseferley90112 жыл бұрын
how would you wrap them on woven wire fence so they wouldn't chew?

Believe it or not a couple years ago I had a yote chew out of my snares 3 times! The spring turkey season after trapping season I killed the yote! and it had all 3 of my snares around it's neck! That was crazy! I figured I would share that experience with you! Keepem comen man! Great videos!
