What is the note called at 00:40 with the 2 small lines and with 3 notes?
@SightReadDrums2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure it has a name, it’s just a common rhythm pattern that goes 16th note - 8th note - 16th note
@areallycoolname26745 ай бұрын
u can imagine it as 4 sixteenth notes then remove the 3rd note

I have a question for percussionists: how do you know which hand to use? I’ve seen on some of my drum line’s music that there are Rs and Al’s to tell you which hand to use, but what do you do when there aren’t any of those sort of markings?
@SightReadDrums3 жыл бұрын
There aren't any rules as such but drummers will often subdivide each beat into four 16ths that go RLRL. So for example if you have the rhythm of an 8th note followed by two 16ths, the sticking will be R_RL. But it all depends on the context. With experience you get to know which sticking patterns work best for various rhythm combinations.
@DennisJohnsonDrummer3 жыл бұрын
If you will learn the "natural sticking system" which is also called "Right Hand Lead System" this will help you to play the same rhythms using the same sticking every time for sound consistency. This will also help your sight-reading skills because you won't have to guess what sticking to use. Hope this helps.
