In this his era of Cory, Cory was one of the best piano players the world has ever seen, that's not an overstatement.

this is one of the most interesting ways he reinvents this solo in my opinion. I try to watch all of them to understand his different styles of approach to this same E/C/A/F pattern.... I've got to say we all already give him props for the original, but this one and his solo at the Rex are my favorite. Keep killing Doc, I'm listenin.

This is the most personal solo I've heard so far from Henry Cory. I am a sucker for crowdpleaser solos, and having listened to some of Corys solos, this one is different in my humble opinion. He always brings something new to the table. Tweaking and exploring. The audience applause is normally energizing, but having your own inner artistic vision of what your own true aspiration is, might not always a crowdpleaser. Power to Cory and all musicians who express themselves and touches a core in us.

I feel like I've become a scholar on this song. As a jazz pianist looking for new ways to approach things, I have really enjoyed listening to and transcribing Cory's various approaches to this song. This particular solo is one of my favs. Thanks for posting it

This is my favorite version for sure. And side note 7:01-7:11 is one of the best licks I’ve ever heard in my life.

What is the chord at 0:53 ? I hear a D diminished 6th (if that's even an extension lol), but I'm not sure.

As a matter of fact, I also need to know what scale he's soloing over that chord with.
