After hearing this (these) version(s) it's so amazing to realise the extra details they put in on the final takes that we've been listening to for a decade! For example, in this one: the choir part doesn't have a harmony yet; the guitar in the beginning doesn't "fade out" before the strings come in; Larnell doesn't use the toms+open hi hat on the upbeats during the second part of the "middle eastern riff" part (2:00); That thicc riff part at the end (4:10) is played on several instruments in unison rather than just one synth; There are many more things but it's just so interesting to notice the adjustments that have been made! Thank you for putting this out ❤

You could re-release these as an entirely new album. I love hearing the differences in Larnell’s work from one take to another. I learn something new every time I listen. I’m certain that’s true for most of the instrumentation, but I’m a drummer so I hear him “better”.

Sorry guys, I really don't like this new sound here.... Way too much reverb added. It has not only taken away the raw punch of the brass but, most importantly, the audio just doesn't match the visual cues of the actual room we're looking at anymore. And that real live feel was exactly what made this session such a miracle for me. Now it just sounds canned. Sigh...
@rowandgАй бұрын
I think we're hearing more of how it sounded in the room then, opposed to the album version which is more direct and mixed.
