Instrumental music getting big crowds in 2022, who could have imagined that? Fusion/jazz bands were mainstream in the seventies, selling millions of records. One can only hope we get back to a fraction of that.
@benink56902 жыл бұрын
These guys are actually enjoyable though. A ton of crappy jazz fusion music. Like it's mostly garbage to my ears. Anytime i hear "Oh so theres a jazz band playing" i run for the hills. This is like Funky motown cat, electronika James Bond meets perfect percussion and brass.

Herbie Hancock even drew a bigger crowd at the same festival, at 82 years of age. There videos of him performing Cantaloupe Island and Chameleon at Glastonbury 2022, with Lionel Loueke on guitar and Terence Blanchard on trumpet
@andycurtis3405 Жыл бұрын
Snarky Puppy got a bit stiffed by the scheduling. Diana Ross was on the Pyramid Stage at the same time so for the first half of their set it was dead, the crowd was about 6 rows deep. It filled out after she finished at least. Nubya Garcia was on before these guys and got a tiny crowd for the same reason. I was happy to be able to just casually stroll up and lean on the barrier to watch both acts at least

Great version of this tune. Curious as to why so many members are missing. No Mark Lanzetti, Bob Lettering, Bobby Sparks or Shaun Martin ? Also I could be wrong but I think that’s Jay Jennings on trumpet not Mike “ Maz “ Maher.
@findingascia41002 жыл бұрын
@@skipmessier765 can confirm it’s Maz, not Jay on trumpet! And indeed it is Bill behind Justin on keys. They usually only tour with 8-10 members of the band, and it rotates as band members have other commitments, like different tours and family. As I’m sure you can imagine, it’s neither cheap nor easy traveling with a band this size!

@@jonathantsbower I'm sure you understand what I mean but anyway=) Dissonances in music are usually called "spicy notes" and it works just like when you cook: if you don't use them at all, you will sound boring (especially when it comes to jazz styles) and on the other hand too much spice gives a lot of tension and feels uncomfortable. And what I meant by black and white is it's not "spicy" or "not spicy", the amount of spice can vary and different people like it differently. Original Shofukan solo is closer to my taste
