If you ever read Marvel Comics' Generation X title, then you'd know they had teenage, mutant super-heroes in-training who were perfect examples of each of these terms. 'Jubilee' was the snarky "little sister" of the team; 'M' was the sardonic, wealthy heiress, who's powers made her other teammates nickname her "Lil Miss Perfect"; & 'Chamber' was the eldest & the snide, "reluctant defacto team leader", from Britain. Their headmistress, Emma Frost (aka 'The White Queen') was of English descent, whose personality exemplified a perfect blend of all 3.

These words are reminiscent of how I used to hate when my fellow students sarcastically used similar words against me. For example, my handwriting was awful and some of my classmates were critical of me and their remarks were rather snarky and far from being snide or sardonic.

He was snarky about his opponent, more often than not, his actions were snide. At most he considered his action as sardonic, but with vengeance.

I thought of sardonic, as a humor arising from a inner dichotomy of hope vs no hope. and vacillating between both, perhaps a gallows humor type thing? take the movie "the joker". What word would describe the tormented humor of the "joker". Sardonic is too mild.

Person 1: (In reference to a non crowded area) "There’s not too many people here" Person 2: "Nah, I thought it was going to be really crowded!" Is the response sardonic?
