"That scream at the end just killed me." Oh, and I suppose you expect us to believe that you then rose from the dead to make this video?!
@DavidJohnson-xr2rz9 жыл бұрын
+Pyriform Well sure, otherwise he'd still be dead and wouldn't have made the video. And, if he hadn't made the video, that would be proof that the scream at the end had killed him. Note: I grew up in fundamentalism and became thoroughly familiar with how the alibi system works. But the best "evidence" I ever heard for the "resurrection of Christ from the dead" was from a radio preacher, and it went like this: "To say that Christ rose from the dead is more than just an extraordinary claim, it would be the most unique event in all history! Nobody would make up a thing that preposterous, therefore anything that preposterous would have to be true!" Actually, I know personally a guy who rose from the dead. Busted all to pieces in a mountaineering accident. Declared dead in the emergency room. Several hours later they start packing him in ice, he comes to and complains, and rather than stuffing a towel in his mouth and continuing, they rush him back into emergency. He sued, the State of California got dragged into it, and the hospital's operating license was revoked. There are about eight "resurrections" in the Bible. All of them (including that of Jesus) are of this same kind. They had no word for unconscious or in a coma: their categories were awake, asleep, or dead. If you couldn't be roused, you were dead. For someone to come back from the dead was uncommon, but everyone knew that such things do happen. The rule of thumb was 3 days: if you've been dead for three days, you ain't comin' back.
@markjohnson96897 жыл бұрын
According to the bible, that 3 day criteria is only for some people. According to Matthew, when Jesus died a whole bunch of people dead a lot longer than 3 days had their tombs break open, and they came back to life. For some unexplained reason all these resurrected people waited 3 days until Jesus was resurrected to climb out of their tombs to go visit people in Jerusalem. I guess if you've been dead for a long time, you have to just kind of hang out in your tomb for a few days before you can actually go visit folks.

"Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian 10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. 9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees! 6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving." 3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. 2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. 1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian." Christopher Lehmann True the Church has had its ups and downs but has it become in danger of being lost? I don't think so. Consider that atheism in places such as Russia, the eastern Bloc, China Cuba and others have tried to forcefully run down the Church but couldn't do it. Also hasn't the spiritual vacuum that Atheism has created elsewhere (like in Western Europe) caused more trouble that is has solved, that less savory faiths like Islam are forcing their way in? The scream felt like she was trying so hard to believe a lie, where she tried blocking all opposition, because that lie gave her security. But what was being said couldn't help but make sense in her mind, where she felt so insecure and was genuinely afraid of dying to a point where she had a breakdown. That scream was so real, so terrifying.
@WitchidWitchid10 жыл бұрын
Okay, in my opinion she really was terrified. The logic that was being used eventually kicked in and she realized that there is no way she can prove he didn't rise from the dead. So being that she is very religious she instantly assumed that she must be conversing with a demon or with Satan himsef since they are the only others with such supernatural powers other than God. It totally freaked her ut and she screamed and hung up. Either that or she saw a ghost inher house while she was on the phone, or maybe an intruder barged in while she was talking.

Or that it's because they were Atheists that she didn't care she was being killed, and that if she'd been on the phone with a Christian show, she would've been saved.

+TheMrGamer then obviously you don't understand reductionism.
@TheMrAndyn0v27 жыл бұрын
That....has nothing to do with anything. My comment was a jab at religion, more than supporting it. It was to demonstrate the difference between religion and atheist. Religion is a dedication that can lead to such a shattering of world views. Atheism is just disbelief, and as such a god being real wouldn't shatter an atheists world view, it would just be more convenient.
@CorneliusHDybdahl7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I admit it is a digression, but no, positing God does not make the whole creation thing easier as you phrased it; that is a misunderstanding of what it means to explain a phenomenon. To explain a phenomenon has to do with reductionism or information theoretical compressibility. We talk about laws of physics as explanations, because they formalize universal patterns in the environment, allowing us to reduce the complexity of our model accordingly; that is epistemology. Creationism is not just a poor explanation, it is the literal opposite of an explanation: It increases the complexity of your model instead of lowering it. As the traditional (informal) rationalists would put it, it is attempting to solve a mystery by appealing to a greater mystery. Even if it were true, it would make the whole creation thing *harder*, not easier.
