Dinesh D'Souza and Christopher Hitchens go at it again at the 2008 Freedom Fest as the "Main Event".
FreedomFest is an annual festival where "free minds meet" to celebrate "great books, great ideas, and great thinkers" in an open-minded society. It is independent, non-partisan, and not affiliated with any organization or think tank.
Founded and produced by Mark Skousen, since 2002, FreedomFest invites the "best and the brightest" from around the world to talk, strategize, socialize, and celebrate liberty. FreedomFest is open to all and is purely egalitarian, where speakers, attendees, and exhibitors are treated as equals.

Christopher Hitchens (born 1949) is an author, journalist and literary critic. Currently living in Washington, D.C., he has been a columnist at Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, World Affairs, The Nation, Slate, Free Inquiry, and a variety of other media outlets. Hitchens is also a political observer, whose books - the latest being "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" - have made him a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits.
In 2009 Hitchens was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "25 most influential liberals in U.S. media." The same article noted, though, that he would "likely be aghast to find himself on this list" and that he "styles himself a radical", not a liberal.

If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. That ain’t how it works Chief. God is perfect; therefore your morals don’t mean shit to him because he’s the only reason you have any to begin with. Every action you take and word you speak is already known, so believing that they will be impressive is just your ego in action. Any God that would just a person on his or her human morality would be no true God. This quote is just another highlight of a blowhard who doesn’t take the time to sit down and understand the very basic essence of what would entail God.

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian: (enjoy!) 10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. 9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees! 6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving." 3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. 2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. 1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Just as he said it doesn’t matter if Socrates did exist or not, his teachings, his thoughts and methods, etc. cannot he denied to still exist. The same could be said if you are inclined for the Jesus figure. Some of the comments about this video show that religious belief has nothing to do with experience or reason but with deep and irrational needs. The religious will discount anything that runs counter to their beliefs; they are willing to ignore all the findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. Everyone has an aversion to being lied to but believers willingly sacrifice their critical thinking and logic and accept that they MUST believe in something without doubting it. There is one question for believers that I find to be the most telling when they respond. Considering everything that is required for you to invest in your religion, if there’s even the slightest possibility that you have been manipulated, fooled and lied to, why wouldn’t you investigate that?

If those who follow the bible had their way, we'd find that the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; they would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us, invade our schools, libraries and homes. That would be far worse than the imperfect system that's in place now.

Charles Darwin's daughter similarly had to fight the lie that Darwin doubted his theory or converted on his deathbed. Robert Ingersoll (1833-1899) had to fight the lie that Thomas Paine had died “howling and terrified”, recanting his assaults on organised religion and the reliability of the Bible. Ingersoll won a bet, Paine died a "blaspheming infidel". Fake archeologist Ron Wyatt's top collaborator at Durupinar rock formation (claimed to be Noah's Ark) was named David Fasold. He broke with Wyatt and denounced the fraud, then he fell sick. Evangelists came to his deathbed, pleading that he retract his denunciation. Then they said he had a last minute change of heart, denied by Fasold's friend Dr Collins, an actual geologist. No respect for the dead, so desperate as to lie, to mitigate the message?

Gods says because of sin we perceive good and evil often differently to our perfect creator. “They shall call evil good and good evil” For example, God would see murdering a defenceless unborn baby as unspeakably evil and deserving of punishment. A woman may perceive it as her right to abort the unborn life. But I would ask a pro-choicer if a man deliberately punched you in the stomach and you lost the baby should that man be charged with murder. I believe most pro-choicers would want him charged with murder! So they can justify their own evil but not his.

What Jesus is saying is there will be worries associated with tomorrow but don’t worry about them meaning don’t be anxious. And it’s all clear when you read the verse before it you see that he wants us to acknowledge him first and seek first the kingdom. If you do that then even when the worries of tomorrow come you’ll have peace and know what to do. Guidance and direction. God to Adam: 'Do not eat of this luscious fruit I'm dangling before your eyes - disobey me and you will die.' Adam to God: 'Okay but if I cannot eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, how do I know if disobedience is good or evil?' God to Adam: 'Trust with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. Don't question Authority, don't think for yourself.' Adam to God: 'Whatever, will you at least tell me what is "die" and death, is it good or evil - oh right, you prefer to punish me (and all my descendants) for lacking knowledge that you withheld.' Makes perfect sense for a religion in need of a scapegoat.

The colonial era justification of genocide of native peoples by various denominations of Christianity shows the true face of "morality" pushed by the Christian church. That is all about power and control. True morality does not need religion, primatologist Frans de Waal brilliantly showed this in his studies.

@@tjones5719 There are *Forged* references, and the copy of Josephus that Origen -"found" The Testimonium Flavianum in is the copy that he inherited from Origen, author of the work "Contra Celsum" in which Origen admitted that Josephus made no reference to Jesus or Nazareth, and that Josephus did not recognise Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. The main reason that Josephus did not recognise Jesus of Nazareth as Messiah is that Josephus had cited someone else to fill that position, his candidate being his patron, the Roman emperor Vespasian (Titus Flavius Vespasianus) The Josephus entries were widely accepted as forgeries even by Church authorities until the early 20th century and then a surge of evangelical pressure brought on by the belief that the world was to end sometime around 1914 (an idea popular among many Christian cults of the late nineteenth century) led to the world's first secular nation becoming a hotbed of dogmatic religious fervour and the revival of many pseudepigraphies as "the gospel truth". I suggest you read Dr Paul Hopper's linguistic analysis of the Testimonium Flavianum in which he shows it to be a fabrication by someone like Eusebius. The writing style is totally inconsistent with Josephus but matches Eusebius to a tee. Forgery and pseudepigraphy has always been a hallmark of Christianity and even six of the thirteen epistles of Saint Paul were written by different authors than the main batch of seven "genuine" letters, and Ironically one of the fakes warns the reader to be careful because of the possibility of pseudepigraphy. The gospel of Jesus makes the difference between a sinner going to everlasting heaven or everlasting hell. God’s word mentions sinners weeping and gnashing of teeth when they realised the gospel they have forfeited. I’m repeatedly tying to get you to perceive the value of His word and the need for Jesus and to accepting the loving act that God performed for you on the cruel cross of wiping way all your ungodly deeds(sins) Although I can often be a jokester these are deadly serous life choices. Someone patiently persisted with me and in time I came to know my Savour personally through the gift of the Holy Spirit. In turn I do the same with you and others. God’s word says to “save others by snatching them from the fire” This refers the lake of fire that all unrepentant sinners are thrown into by God. They are thrown in because no-one will want to go there willingly. As with Noah warnings all an evangelist can do is warn and plead for others to “flee the wrath of God” coming upon all evil sinners. I can certainly buy that Jesus was based on a real person who was a wondering messianic rabbi. Mark was the first written book of the Gospel and it doesn’t have any immaculate conception, virgin birth, or nativity. When we first meet Jesus he’s an adult getting baptized by John. It’s certainly believable that Jesus joined John’s group and became the leader of John’s followers after John’s death. The whole nativity story was an invention by later gospel writers to make Jesus more god like.

Charles Lyell’s geological deceptions set the stage for Darwinism, a Satanic fantasy in obscurantist language. Salvation through faith alone in the only-begotten Son of God testifies of His holiness, and it is always a miracle of grace. Sadly, the professional Antichrist liar "Hitch" knew that he was a hell-bound sodomite according to both the Old and New Testaments in their original languages before he left Balliol College at Oxford to write for "International Socialism." +I. V. d M. Yes, the heathen idolater Socrates was wrong about his "think" fallacy as history has proven many times over. I couldn't disagree with the late C. E. Hitchens more. The Lord Jesus Christ said, "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female" (Mark 10: 6). Eternal salvation from sin by grace through faith solely in Him testifies of His holiness, and Christianity has nothing to do with "religion" because it is a personal relationship to the Saviour. The only-begotten Son of God is the Prince of Peace, and He also averred the Hebrew Tanakh. Simply put, atheism is the pathological denial of Almighty God, and modern geologists describe hell as the molten core of the center of the Earth. The historicity of Noah's Flood is well beyond legitimate dispute, and Darwinism is a vile anti-Semitic fairy tale. Even the term "theory" of evolution" is a scientific misnomer because Darwin's racist hypotheses cannot be proven by observation. Of course, since they have never been proven they are inherently false, and Hitchens wrote turgid Marxist prose. Sadly, the Trotskyite blasphemer "Hitch" became a professional Antichrist liar, and his fellow sodomites called him "Hitch the bitch." As a matter of fact, he died of metastasized cancer years ago, and his atheist followers are unaware that his ridiculous and immoral claims have NO substantial basis in historiography, linguistics, philosophy, ecclesiology, classical literature or the scientific method. Solid evidence based on more than 5, 000 extant MSS established the integrity of the inerrant King James Bible long before C. R. Without Him being crucified there would be no hope for mankind. He promised to send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, which He did at Pentecost. At our death we receive the full inheritance and are transformed into our eternal state. We experience then the richest measure of the Divine Presence, peace, love, security, forever. My opinion of your quote is it's a very negative thought distortion. Christians have been liberated from death and the fear of it through the cross of Christ. In Christ there is true freedom from the passions of our fallen nature. "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed through the renewing of your mind". The mind is the "heart" of a human being. Feed it good thoughts and it reaps good behavior. Feed it bad thoughts or distorted thoughts and we reap the same behavior. That is true whether you are a Christian, an agnostic, or an atheist. There have been a number of so called Christians or Christian entities that have committed murders etc. That is against God's nature. But committing such acts are also true of atheists. Hitler, Mussolini, Putin, and a host of others come to mind. I'd have to say that most murderers and rapists don't believe in God. Do you think that's a fair assessment? But, you don't see me ranting about such atheists. I have attended several very good churches made up of very good people. I wonder if Mr Ingersoll ever attended any or if he just wanted to rant about churches/Christians and paint a wide swath of with a paintbrush of a conspiracy theory which is untrue with no basis in fact? Do you not see the cognitive distortion in his statement? A major one is "all or nothing" thinking, also called "black or white" thinking. It's either all good or all bad. Another distortion I see in his statement is "Jumping to Conclusions", both "Mind Reading" and "Fortune-telling". A third looks like "Overgeneralization". Do you see what I am saying? This is true freedom to think rationally. I think Mr Ingersoll has gone to the mind graveyard, not us Christians. share.upmc.com/2021/05/cognitive-distortions/ I'd suggest reading that article. it's non-religious, yet hits home about the distorted thinking I see in Mr. Ingersoll's, and perhaps your, thinking.

Yes, the scripture states that we have the mind of Christ. In some respects that is true, such as when God speaks to us from His Word. But, I've found that He is largely silent much of the time. Then we have scriptural teachings to falls back on, but we have to be very careful how such teachings are interpreted. The Resurrection of Christ is also a fantastic claim, as is that Christ's death was to pay for the redemption of those that chose to believe in Him. The New Testament is full of what Mr. Hitchens would call "fantastic claims". And I agree, they are shocking, difficult to believe or fathom. But God gives grace and faith to believe and trust in them. Without such grace man is incapable of believing them in his own strength. I think reading the biographies of Hudson Taylor, Dawson Trotman and Billy Graham would take variance with Hitchens' claim that there is no record that these folks understood the mind of God. On the contrary, I think God used them to bring great multitudes into His Kingdom. Trotman's and Graham's organizations live on today. These organizations' motives are to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Christ to as many as possible. If you want to speak of the exertion of power over other humans in the real and material world, why don't we discuss the corporate world and the corruption there? I've experienced this first hand as an accountant, also with the legal system as an expert witness in a lawsuit. I had to leave a job because of the corruption of the people I was working for. Do you realize the harm, both professionally and financially, such corruption causes? Does Hitchens speak about such corruption or is he just about religion?

Quotes from your favourite book provides no factual foundation of any kind. For example “Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful as a Babel Fish could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as the final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God. The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist,'" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. Douglas Adams H2G2 more fun than the turgid drivel from the 'good' book.

Everlasting salvation from sin by grace through faith in Him testifies of His holiness, and the fulfillment of prophecy confirms the veracity of the Gospel that speaks for itself. Intelligent minds want to know what happened after the Saviour arose from the dead almost two millennia ago. Born of a virgin in Bethlehem, the only-begotten Son of God is the Prince of Peace, and the Lord Jesus Christ averred the Hebrew Tanakh consistently as a documented matter of immutable fact. Even the senseless title of this absurd video is completely misleading, and modern geologists describe hell as the molten core of the center of the Earth past, present and future. The human mind, no matter how highly trained, cannot grasp the universe. The child knows that someone must have written those books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books, a mysterious order, which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects. HITCHENS' CORNER? If you have listened to a variety of Christopher Hitchens' talks or discussions, you may find the following story interesting. Long ago at “Speakers’ Corner” in Hyde Park, London, an atheist stepped onto a well-worn soap box and began talking to a gathering of some forty or fifty people. Toward the end of a fiery discourse denigrating all forms of religion, the man raised both his fists; waved them angrily at the sky, and began shouting at the top of his voice. “Alright God; if you really exist, prove it to all these people by striking me down with a bolt of lightning! Do it right now, and perhaps then they will believe in you.” After a few seconds of absolute silence, he cried out again. “What’s wrong God: are you afraid to take the challenge? Show yourself. Why don’t you answer me?” Moments later, a tall, well-build man walked forward and began to address the crowd in a gentle yet authoritative tone. “On my way here, I found myself walking down a dark and narrow alleyway. Suddenly, a young boy sprang from a concealed door way and raised his fists toward me in a threatening manner. Although he appeared to be no more than twelve years old; he nevertheless approached me boldly; and-with much cursing and swearing-demanded that I hand over my watch and my wallet. As I looked down upon him, I realized how easily I could have subdued, or even punished him for his audacity; but what good would it have done? (I knew there were many more like him in that part of town.) In the end, and with great sadness; I simply and silently turned and walked away." With genuine compassion, the stranger smiled at the man on the soap box and added, “That my friend is what God has done to you today.” ***** Christopher Hitchens now knows only too well what every human being will eventually discover... "That at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10) In the meantime... "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

Until that day arrives however, you obviously have the choice of believing anything you wish: I'm simply offering you the truth... "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (The Hebrew word signifies not only the imagination, but also man's purposes and desires.) "Lo, this only have I found, that God made man upright; but they have sought out many (wicked) inventions." (Eccl. 7:29) I'm sorry if "religion" has hurt you so badly: it hurt me too. Then I learned the truth... Religion is man-made: Christianity is God-made! @@ergonomover “Nice to see that you now accept Webster after you ignorantly denied their definition of atheism: a lack of belief.” Nice lie. You never seem to be able to state facts correctly. I even supported the use of Webster’s for a lie which supported my contention that intent was not required. And again a lie because the definition of atheism you gave from Webster’s was “1a: a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods" (Merriam Webster dictionary).” You provided this on October 8. So you even tried to change the definition. You see I didn’t deny the Webster definition for atheism, I simply was able to point out that you didn’t lack belief but rather believed a god doesn’t exist as captured here by me “Ergonomover lies that he only lacks belief in god. He refused to respond to the posting of I think around 8 quotes he has endorsed by posting in this comment section, all of which say god doesn’t exist. I don’t know anyone who posts that many quotes about things he supposedly doesn’t believe.” “Like I've done before for "atheism" and "to lie", I can give several dictionary definitions of indoctrination”. (Oxford Languages dictionary), but let's go with Webster's "to imbue with a usually partisan... opinion"”. Nice cherry pick again. The definition is “to imbue with a usually partisan or sectarian opinion, point of view, or principle”. I didn’t say anything about use logic reason and scientific inquiry is his indoctrination. Sorry but you are getting more illogical. “So far, you haven't provided the slightest example or explanation.” Because we are trying to get you to stick to what I said and actually agree to the definition. “His bestseller book "God is not Great" is evidence that many people find some of his pronouncements on religion rather brilliant.” Nice red herring that has nothing to do with my statement and it’s also an argument ad populum. “And please avoid projecting your love of cherry-picked definitions upon me.” No worries, you cherry picked all on your own. “Only by cherry-picking hard could you hope to separate intent to deceive from the verb "to lie", and I think you may have learned that by now. Liked the Buddhist jokes by Hitchens, about the only genuinely funny things he has said about any religion. The one about the hot dog seller and the Buddhist monk was especially hilarious. A monk approaches a fast food vendor and says to him; "Make me one with everything". The street food purveyor said in reply; " Ok, here it is and hands over a massive wiener with all the trimmings. The monk gives him a large note which the vendor accepts then the monk says; "Where's my change" and the seller replies "Change only comes from within". Priceless!

Intelligent minds want to know what happened after the Saviour arose from the dead almost two millennia ago. If you want to be indoctrinated with atheist beliefs, sure. But if you even listen to his argument, he talks about not having proof about the theist perspective but then goes on to state that he knows there was no census, knows who was the ruler at that exact time, etc. This shows tremendous inconsistency because he doesn’t know those things, he didn’t live at that time which is almost the only thing that would allow Hitchens to know those things. Essentially he tears down one set of what he believes to be false beliefs with smoke and mirrors to hide his own set of false beliefs.

“Since Webster defines atheism first and foremost as a lack of belief”. Nice cherry pick and lie. Webster’s first definition (not foremost) is “a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods.” And that second one (disbelief) is believing a god doesn’t exist, same as you. “would you be so kind as to give examples of Hitchen's "atheist beliefs"?” And nice feigned ignorance. I actually gave an example right in my post. And you even commit a bit of a strawman because where did I say Hitchens had atheist beliefs…I didn’t. I simply said he would be stating atheistic beliefs. It’s like if you quoted things from the Bible, that’s not you having theist beliefs.

@@tjones5719 You agree Webster's first definition of atheism is a lack of belief, that is good. You've come a long way! Foremost is defined by Webster as "of first rank or position", obviously "lack of belief" is given first position by Webster and is thus the foremost definition - by definition. Maybe you made another illiterate mistake - I didn't intend to deceive or get anything wrong. If someone lied, it was you. Lies are still NOT nice. Fake accusations are very impolite (to say the least), and you know it. You wrote of Hitchen's supposed "tremendous inconsistency" - is that the 'atheist doctrine' he is imbuing? Are you sure "inconsistency" is purely an atheist thing? One quick check on theist Stephen Ireland's tremendous inconsistencies doesn't totally refute your point? You have called this video an "atheist indoctrination video" and your OP here starts with "If you want to be indoctrinated with atheist beliefs" - so who besides Hitchens was supposedly indoctrinating those atheist beliefs? Please try to concentrate. Hitchens said "J.C. of Nazareth was well-know to be of Nazareth", not that he knew it, but that it is "well-known". The same goes for the bible claim of the census and of Quirinus as governor of Syria, it is well-known that there is no historical evidence for the census and that Quirinus was governor of Syria only after 4 AD, not during the time of Jesus' life. It seems the only "tremendous inconsistencies" are the ones found in the bible. Maybe doing a little research before saying people lied might help your case. Your stated position (on belief in god or gods) of "still exploring" should motivate you to do so, and to be a little more polite, acting in good faith. I think your failed example fails to qualify as a uniquely "atheist belief", care to try again? What are those "atheist beliefs" being "indoctrinated" in this video? I gave evidence that it is not the first definition, you cherry picked from the first listed definition. You hiding behind this lie shows you already failed. “You've come a long way!” I’m still pointing out your lies with support, and that’s what I’ve done from the beginning. “Foremost is defined by Webster as "of first rank or position", obviously "lack of belief" is given first position by Webster and is thus the foremost definition - by definition.” Again a lie because it is not the full definition that is listed first and your use of foremost doesn’t mean “first” because you said “first and foremost” which now you are claiming is you saying “first and first” but you aren’t as that is repetitive. You instead meant the foremost in terms of a different definition like rank or importance and it is not. “Maybe you made another illiterate mistake - I didn't intend to deceive or get anything wrong. If someone lied, it was you.” A lie doesn’t require intent as we have shown many times. So you did lie. “Lies are still NOT nice.” I have not said that lies are nice. “Fake accusations are very impolite (to say the least), and you know it.” Nice lie again. You have no idea what I do or do not agree to in this case. “You wrote of Hitchen's supposed "tremendous inconsistency" - is that the 'atheist doctrine' he is imbuing? Are you sure "inconsistency" is purely an atheist thing?” You are strawmanning again as I said nothing about those being the atheist beliefs I mentioned earlier. “One quick check on theist Stephen Ireland's tremendous inconsistencies doesn't totally refute your point?” More from your strawman which makes this conclusion you are trying to make is a non sequitur - cannot base valid conclusion off of a logical fallacy. “You have called this video an "atheist indoctrination video" and your OP here starts with "If you want to be indoctrinated with atheist beliefs" - so who besides Hitchens was supposedly indoctrinating those atheist beliefs? “. Now you move the goal posts. Before you said it was “Hitchens atheist beliefs” but now you’ve changed it to Hitchens not necessarily having those atheist beliefs but conveying them. You cannot keep your story straight. “Please try to concentrate.” Nice projection of your flaw as you are tripping all over yourself. Three different logical fallacies, continued lies and cherry pick of the definition while ignoring evidence. That’s all you. “Hitchens said "J.C. of Nazareth was well-know to be of Nazareth", not that he knew it, but that it is "well-known". The same goes for the bible claim of the census and of Quirinus as governor of Syria, it is well-known that there is no historical evidence for the census and that Quirinus was governor of Syria only after 4 AD, not during the time of Jesus' life.” Except he didn’t say it was “well known” he said “we know” which is what I said and is wrong. “It seems the only "tremendous inconsistencies" are the ones found in the bible.” Now you commit a Tu Quoque fallacy while not being able to refute Hitchens inconsistency. That’s your fourth different logical fallacy. “Maybe doing a little research before saying people lied might help your case.” I’m doing fine given how you had to use the logical fallacies and lies while avoiding evidence. So you should take your advice. “Your stated position (on belief in god or gods) of "still exploring" should motivate you to do so, and to be a little more polite, acting in good faith.” As I have said, it is the other person who is impolite not me. And I do explore that’s part of why I can navigate both atheist and theist talking points. “I think your failed example fails to qualify as a uniquely "atheist belief", care to try again?” Incorrect and you haven’t even tried to address the example - the actual example without your logical fallacies and lies. “What are those "atheist beliefs" being "indoctrinated" in this video?” I gave an example and you still are too scared to address it. “If you accept Webster's first definition of atheism being a lack of belief, isn't the term "atheist belief" an oxymoron?” Nice lie but that’s not the first definition as the evidence you have avoided showed.

This `clergy not allowed to marry` is a Roman Catholic rule and NOT supported by the New Testament. In fact, the RC church claims Apostle Peter as their first Pope - yet Peter (Simon) WAS married. See the gospels Matthew ch 8. vs 14; Mark ch 1. vs 30/31; Luke ch 4 vs 38/39. So RCs do not follow the example of their own `first` Pope! Will comment further late on - I have an appointment now.

The irony of the catholic priest scandal is the second less cited report by the Boston Globe which had since been kept behind a pay site rather than free news reporting. The further review revealed that the majority of the abuses were not pedophilia (still atrocious but not pedophilia). This was due to the age of the victims being too old for that classification. The second Globe report created a link that people didn’t want to acknowledge, their assertion was that a vast majority of these abusers were gay men who had joined the priesthood to try to deny they were gay. They felt the celibate lifestyle would help them hide the desires but they instead came out in abusive ways. Now most don’t want to promote this storyline because it devices LGBT members in a bad light and the media leaning left doesn’t want that to be the story. So in many ways it wasn’t the religion that caused this (though they deserve tons of blame for covering it up) but rather societal pressures on those LGBT individuals. As an aside on the cover up, you will find that type of cover up also in a very atheist centered part of society in the US, Hollywood. Pedophilia, sexual abuse of children and women runs pretty rampant in those circles as well but didn’t get the same notoriety until likely the last decade. Again it all goes to show that it’s not one single idea that brings out this violent nature in people, they find a horrid excuse no matter.
