I'm genuinely surprised at how well the 86 dinobots came out, they are all so big and chunky. As cool as it is to see them almost complete, i really hope they get moving with the AOE version soon.

I honestly also hope that they release dinobot Scarr from the core class dinos as a Leader in Lagacy. Maybe Slash too, since she already has a g1-ish design. I mean, can you have enough Dinobots? I don't think so.

The one gripe that I have for Snarl is that they didn't use the golden paint for the face or legs. I understand that they didn't put that in for potential paint chipping, but he does look inconsistent compared to the rest of the Dinobots. Still like the figure tho and I can't wait for Swoop!

It's a cross between toy and the cartoon. This has started to annoy me a lot with Hasbro TT. 3rd party makers like Magic Square and Newage don't do this with their G1 releases. They are more creative making a toy version and animation version, so fans have options and less complaints in that regard.

Grimlock's hips are actually not racheted, but are designed to get more tight as you move the leg up, it's just a basic friction joint with some neat modification

Swoop is gonna go so hard because he isn't bulky like the rest of the team. He's slender while his Pterry mode bulks out a bit. Definitely gonna be getting him when he comes out

Proto was asked in QnA on how he think Hasbro will do an 86 Swoop what would they do. He said he think they do a leader price but still keep him in scale with the items, but he would come with accessories to bulk up the price. And those accessories be the other dinobots weapons that they weren't released with.

They look great, and chunky together, and overall fit the scale of the 86 releases really well. My only real experience with the Dinobots has been the Animated iterations which I still really like. Personally I would have been more than okay with these guys being at a Voyager price point given the simplified transformations and standard articulation. Interested to see how Swoop will turn out as he would make one big pterodactyl as a Leader. Also SS Bayverse Dinos in SS would be really cool to see as I believe none of those toys really aged that well.

I’d be excited if they release Dinobot Skarr in a leader class scale for legacy. They mentioned something about the idea of a leader class Skarr so hopefully that can happen.

The knee ratchet on my slag self destructed since the ratchet is literally a piece of thin plastic flexing in and out of place of the teeth of the rotation joint

The robot modes on the ss86 dinobots are absolutely killer. It's just a shame the dino modes are just merely 'good'. I had to get front teeth for grimlock, horns with no hollowness for slag, and flip up feet for sludge. Just leave out crap accessories in favour of fixing issues like this and these figures would be that bit closer to perfect.

So lucky to have found this guy at my local comic book store while I was looking for animated bee. I think out of all the dinobots, I have only ever found grimlock at retail, the rest were from flea markets or comic stores

I really hope they reissue the other Dinobots over time as wave fillers tbh I missed Grimlock as I thought he was gonna be the only SS86 Dinobot and with that I skipped him and decided on every one since until Snarl appeared because of the stream where they revealed Skarr more officially than that one article. The thought of a leader Skarr coming that was planted has me excited, and I now actually want these leader Dinos

You're the only person who mentions the plastic accessory not snapping into place correctly or if you jump the proverbial (non existent gun) I'd be afraid for noticeable stress marks! Luckily I read the instructions and I soaked it in hot water so it'd be malleable, and I wanted to transform him anyway, so I moved his head down held a soft piece of cloth, and pushed it into places! Also, the fore arms are super tight! I removed his dino front feet, and carefully used a plastic screwdriver to get em to release and perfectomundo! And no stress marks or nothing broken!!

I just got Snarl myself, and as you touched on he definitely feels the most fun out of the bunch, or at least since Grimlock anyway. He's entertaining and easy to transform, unlike Slag and Sludge. Slag's backpack is incredibly finnicky to line up right when getting him into dino mode, and Sludge has the weak knees and a pretty difficult transformation. I love them all, since it's always been a dream to have G1 cartoon accurate Dinobots, but only Grimlock and Snarl feel like *toys* I can fiddle with on my desk rather than statues to be posed every once in a while. I have hopes Swoop will be another highlight, given how lithe and straightforward his design is.

Just got mine so watched the review afterwards, I agree on the tail. Was so annoying at first but I just accepted it and I'm cool with it now but I do have an issue of the small gap and lack of posablility of the dino head

I think you're right about G1 toy accurate repaints with the clear sections coming one day. The Toxitron Grimlock has the clear neck, and there is, in fact, greebling under there. I think the Studio Series 86 Grim was originally going to have a transparent neck, also, but they changed their minds allegedly to be more animation accurate. Is that right, or am I making stuff up?

Why o why did they make his head and legs in yellow plastic? It doesn't mesh with the other dinobots. I would have been fine with them using yellow instead of gold on all the bots (a movie-accurate lighter yellow) but not this weird combination of not-gold and darker yellow.

Likely to do with paint chipping. The way snarls head splits apart and tucks into his legs in robot mode could easily cause paint to chip. With the other three dinobots, their heads don't split apart or have to hide.

You missed a step in the alt transformation. The knees need to slide in to accommodate transformation. Also, the sword tabs in from underneath, not on his back.

This was somehow painfull to watch because he handles them like a 12 years old. (Like they were intended yea but still) painfull. And yes i know they are toys. But as a collector who is maybe way too carefull it may just be my gripe too.
